District 303 attendance procedures
District 303 attendance procedures were updated and approved at the June 9, 2025, Board Meeting. All district procedures are available in the CUSD 303 Student Handbook found in the Parent/Community tab in the Information column of the districtd303.org website.
Updates to the attendance procedures were made to bring consistency across all schools within the district and to clarify student attendance expectations. One example of an update is the removal of the pre-arranged absence procedure. This aligns with the definitions of excused and unexcused absences found in Section 2.2.
Families are encouraged to review the CUSD 303 Student Handbook to familiarize themselves with the districtwide procedures.
Here is a link that takes you to the section of the handbook that is dedicated to attendance. In addition, the district created magnets for all to support keeping track of absences. These were sent home with students yesterday or today.
Principally speaking
We had a wonderful and meaningful week at Fox Ridge! On Tuesday, we were honored to welcome veterans from our community to our annual Veterans Day breakfast, hosted by our Student Council. This special event was followed by our all-school assembly, where students and staff came together to show appreciation for the service and sacrifice of our veterans.
Our 3rd and 5th grade students also completed the CogAT assessment this week. We are proud of their focus and effort.
Yesterday, our staff enjoyed a fun surprise—the inaugural Jolly Trolley! Our PTO spread joy throughout the building by delivering snacks and special drinks to our teachers. It was a thoughtful way to bring smiles and refreshment to our team.
Today, students in grades 3–5 participated in a school-sponsored assembly with The Vitt Factor. This engaging program emphasized character development and the idea of becoming 1% better each day. Students interacted with the presenter, reflected on their strengths, and identified areas where they want to grow. Ask your child if they attended, about their story, and how they create their life story. His mantra he shared was "Do More, Be More, and Become More." He had students share their responses to the prompt "I am...I wish," highlighting character traits and areas to grow. It was an inspiring afternoon!
Looking ahead, we are excited for our Primary Literacy Night next Wednesday. If you haven’t yet RSVP’d for this wonderful family learning experience, please do so—more details are included below. Families will learn helpful literacy strategies and participate in activities that can support reading at home.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We hope you have a great weekend!
