Jarrell ISD Monday Memo
October 20, 2025
Cougars,
The last few weeks of October focus on national initiatives for student safety and drug-free living. Today is the beginning of America's Safe Schools Week, National School Bus Safety Week, and National Red Ribbon Week.
All week long, our campuses and school bus drivers will recognize these initiatives through various activities, such as Unity Day, which is this Wednesday, October 22nd. Unity Day is a national effort to educate and promote anti-bullying behavior. People are encouraged to wear the color orange.
To celebrate Red Ribbon Week, our elementary campuses are having dress-up days that reflect their career goals, why they say no to drugs, and other activities that show the dangers of doing drugs, vaping, or using other substances. Raising awareness for elementary students sets a foundation for them to make healthy, thoughtful choices. Our secondary schools have been having anti-bullying activities and anti-drug lessons throughout the month.
America's Safe Schools Week promotes lessons about making positive choices. When students make good choices, they are empowered to grow academically and socially. It's also about physical safety. The Jarrell ISD Police Department, along with our campus counselors and administration, helps protect, educate, and promote student safety.
For National School Bus Safety Week, our drivers will give out tips reminding students of safe behavior when going to and from school, athletic events, or on field trips. Other safety reminders include bus stop safety and the correct way to get on and off a bus.
Students flourish when we teach them why making good, healthy choices and saying no to drugs is important.
