Community Compass Vol. 13
Q2 Week 13 Nov 03-07

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Hope everyone had a great and safe Halloween — and that you’ve recovered from all the sugar! 🎃
Welcome to November at Lipscomb, where the calendar doesn’t slow down (but we’re pretending it might). This week we’ve got a little bit of everything: an Election Day holiday on Tuesday (we all deserve that break!), Coffee with the Principal on Wednesday (bring caffeine and questions), and tryouts for our spring musical, Finding Nemo — because clearly we don’t have enough going on already! 🐠
Looking ahead, Career Day is just two weeks away, so please sign up and tell your friends and family — we’d love to show our students all the cool things grown-ups do when they’re not at school all day like us.
Last week was one for the books: our Student Ambassadors helped host Principal for a Day with Bank of America CEO Jennifer Chandler, our Cheerleaders wowed the crowd at the Discover Dallas ISD event, and our Boys Soccer Team pulled off a playoff just a week after they defeated the 4th-grade Mockingbird team! ⚽️ Meanwhile, our Book Fair was a huge success — all while our campus renovations continue to keep us on our toes (and occasionally guessing where the noise is coming from).
So yes — we’re a little tired, maybe running on caffeine and school spirit, but we’re doing it all with smiles and style. Excellence… not without effort!
Here’s to another great week at Lipscomb — we’ve got this! 💪

Arrival Safety Reminder
This is a friendly reminder to follow all posted traffic signs and routes during morning arrival.
Due to the limited space surrounding our campus, it’s essential that everyone helps maintain a safe and efficient flow of traffic. Please be mindful of our volunteers, students, and staff who assist daily — their safety depends on each of us doing our part.
Thank you for keeping our arrival safe and showing what it means to be part of The Pride!
Did You Know?!
- Children who begin kindergarten well‑prepared are much more likely to succeed academically later: one study found that students who met readiness benchmarks on a kindergarten readiness assessment had an 85% chance of being proficient in reading by the end of 3rd grade.
- Research shows that if students struggle to read by 3rd grade, they are much more likely to fall behind permanently.
- Students who are not reading proficiently by the end of 3rd grade are four times more likely to drop out of high school.
- Reading at grade level by 3rd grade is the single greatest predictor of future academic success and life outcomes.
🎯 What This Means for Home Learning
- For Kindergarten families: building strong skills now (language, literacy, social‑emotional, motor) makes a big difference. When children begin school ready, they’re much more likely to achieve later.
- For 3rd Grade families: supporting reading at home is critical. Being on grade level in reading by end of 3rd grade unlocks learning in the years ahead — and falling behind now can create long‑term gaps.
- For all families: even simple daily routines — reading aloud, talking about learning, supporting homework, making home practice a habit — contribute significantly to student success.
