December Message: Reflection and Connection

As the year draws to a close and the winter season arrives, December offers a crucial time for reflection. For many Indigenous cultures, this season is steeped in traditions of storytelling, renewal and community connection, especially leading up to the Winter Solstice (December 21).

At EIPS, we continue our deep commitment to Truth and Reconciliation. This month's memo highlights opportunities to learn, engage and honour the rich history and enduring vitality of the First Nations and Métis Peoples of Treaty 6 territory within our local communities. We encourage all members of the EIPS family to embrace these opportunities for cultural understanding and shared learning.

📚 Indigenous-Focused Professional Development

EIPS is committed to building staff capacity in culturally responsive education.

Following the resolution of the recent labour disruption, EIPS has made the strategic decision to postpone all divisional professional development for November and December. This pause ensures all school staff can fully focus on student well-being and curriculum re-alignment as students return to regular programming.

  • Stay Tuned: We anticipate restoring a full and robust calendar of Indigenous-focused PD offerings, including workshops on Treaty 6 teachings and curriculum integration, in the new year (January 2026).
