PHS College & Career Corner

Wow! A HUGE thank you to Widener University and the Philadelphia Union for inviting our school to attend the 'Work in Sports' presentation at Subaru Park this week. Students enrolled in business classes here at Penncrest had the opportunity to hear panel discussions from communication directors, ask questions of sales directors, and tour the facility to learn about the careful planning and coordination that is required to run a professional sports organization. Exposure and networking are key in learning about career fields and pathways!

Seniors, create spreadsheets to keep track of college applications. Use a password app to save the numerous passwords you will create throughout this college app process.

Underclass, we're over halfway through the first marking period! Use an agenda or calendar to plan ahead for studying and assignments.

Please check your email regularly! Both school and personal email accounts will have tons of important information shared daily, including college and career visits, links to set up college portals, and happenings at Penncrest. Not reading an email is not an excuse for missing a deadline. Create a routine and stay on top of all you have to do!

Garrett Williamson is a non-profit organization, located on Bishop Hollow Road in Newtown Square, that strives to create an environment where every child has dynamic, high-quality, life-changing experience by using our historic property as their canvas for learning. We have two main programs: Garrett’s Way Childcare and Learning Center, which serves infants 6 weeks of age through Kindergarten, and Camp Garrett summer day camp, which serves youth age 5 through 15.

In October, 2021, we officially announced the addition of a new department, Agriculture Education! We are hosting the 4th Annual Harvest Festival on October 19th, 2024, to showcase the Garrett Williamson Farm and the educational animals that are being featured in school and community programs in the coming years. All proceeds from this event will benefit Agriculture Education programs.

In order to make this event a success, we are in need of several volunteers. Right now, we are most in need of help during the event, starting at 10:30 AM to 3:00PM. You do not have to stay the whole time - anytime that you could offer is greatly appreciated. Any interested students, please sign up using the following link: GW families & friends: GW's 4th Annual Harvest Festival (signupgenius.com) OR please contact Molly Scollo at mscollo@garrettwilliamson.org who can answer any further questions. Thank you!
