Thank you for a great start to our school year!

Dear Delco Families,

Thank you for a fantastic start to the 2025-2026 school year! It has been wonderful to see our hallways filled with smiling faces and positive energy. Your partnership and support have been essential in making these first few weeks a great success. We are so proud to be Delco Dolphins!

To continue this great momentum, we need your help. We invite you to become an active member of our school community by joining our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). The PTO plays a vital role in supporting our students and teachers through volunteer efforts, fundraising, and community-building events. Your involvement, big or small, makes a huge difference. Please consider joining us!

We also want to highlight the importance of consistent and timely school attendance. Being present and on time every day is crucial for your child's academic success. Instruction begins promptly, and we want every student to have the best possible start to their day. Please ensure your child arrives at school by 7:30 AM. This allows them to settle in, have breakfast, unpack, and be ready to learn without missing any important information.

Thank you again for your dedication to our school and your children. We are looking forward to an amazing year of learning and growth together.

Sincerely,

The Delco Elementary Staff

Character Trait for September is Respect Character Trait for September is Respect

Dear Delco Elementary Families,

Happy September! This month, our school-wide character trait focus will be on Respect. We believe that building a foundation of respect is crucial for creating a positive and successful learning environment for everyone.

What We're Learning About Respect

At school, we'll be defining respect as treating others the way you want to be treated. This includes:

  • Using kind words and polite manners.

  • Listening to others when they are speaking.

  • Taking care of our school, our classroom, and our own belongings.

  • Valuing the unique differences and ideas of everyone in our community.

How to Practice Respect at Home

Your partnership is the key to making this lesson truly stick! You can help reinforce the importance of respect at home in a few simple ways:

  • Model Respectful Language: Using "please," "thank you," "excuse me," and a kind tone of voice in your daily interactions shows your child what respect sounds and feels like.

  • Encourage Active Listening: Practice making eye contact and waiting for a person to finish speaking before you respond. This teaches children to value what others have to say.

  • Discuss Disagreements: Talk about how it's okay to have different opinions, but it's important to disagree in a calm and kind way, without yelling or insults.

  • Assign Responsibilities: Having your child help care for family property, like their toys, their room, or even a pet, teaches them to respect their belongings and shared spaces.

Thank you for your support in fostering a community of kindness and respect. We look forward to a fantastic month of learning and growing together!

Best,

The Delco Elementary Staff

Guidance Lessons Information Guidance Lessons Information

Starting September 9, students will begin participating in guided lessons led by our school counselor. This month’s focus will be "Understanding and Identifying Emotions."

During these lessons, students will explore different emotions, how they affect us, and healthy ways to cope with them. These activities are designed to promote mental health awareness and social-emotional growth.

Participation is optional. If you prefer that your child not take part in these lessons, please contact our school counselor, Candice McDonald, at 512-594-6216.
