PLUM 26/27
5th Grade Pine Lane Up in the Mountains
Why is 5th Grade attending PLUM for the 26/27 school year?
Due to the expansion of Sierra Middle School for the 2027–2028 school year, the 2026–2027 school year will be the final year that both 5th and 6th grades are housed at PLE.
As PLUM has long been a meaningful tradition for our 6th grade students, we would like to extend this opportunity to our 5th graders, ensuring they can participate in this experience before they transition from PLE.
Updates (10/9/26) on PLUM:
- Stone Canyon EDventures has communicated that registration should open for Pine Lane families immediately following Fall Break. We will publish that information in the newsletter dated October 23rd.
- PLUM fees have been added to MySchoolBucks. We still have one upcoming fundraiser as an opportunity for families to reduce their costs for PLUM. We recommend waiting to make payments until after all fundraising activities are completed. If you do not plan to fundraise, then you may make payments at any time in MSB. However, overpayment refunds cannot be issued.
WHAT IS PLUM?
PLUM is an annual tradition at Pine Lane for students and their teachers, during their final year of elementary school.
Its purpose is threefold. First, it reinforces environmental science units taught at Pine Lane by supplementing the Geology and Environmental Science standards which we teach in the Douglas County Schools. Second, it provides students with the opportunity to learn “life” skills such as the confidence to meet new challenges and living more independently. Third, the time together with their classmates and teachers develops trust and cooperation which, in turn, builds a stronger “community of learners” when everyone returns to Pine Lane.

WHERE IS PLUM?
STONE CANYON EDVENTURES - LARKSPUR COLORADO
Stone Canyon's residential, outdoor education program offers school groups positive experiential education opportunities. Choice, small group size, and innovative curriculum allow us to provide your students with an authentic and effective learning experience. Our instructors utilize a hands-on approach, multiple intelligences, Bloom's Taxonomy, and other tools as they create an immersive and engaging educational setting amongst nature.
Forests, prairies, chaparral and riparian biomes form the unique ecosystem that is Stone Canyon's classroom. Students will gain a better appreciation of the natural world as they experience touching, seeing, and learning in the great outdoors.
While we use nature to convey a number of science concepts to students, we also strive to create better leaders in and out of the classroom. The aim of our leadership curriculum is to not only build character and community, but to also encourage collaboration and critical thinking in the 21st century.
Our goal is to Empower students, help them Grow as individuals, encourage them to Discover the world around them, and Evolve into life-long learners. At Stone Canyon, we provide the perfect environment for students to Experience the E.D.G.E.
