Fairmount Park Elementary Vision
to connect every child to themselves, others, and possibilities
Message from the Principal
Hello Fairmount Park Families,
With only eight days left of school, staff at Fairmount Park are reflecting on a wonderful year of learning, growth, and fun together. Throughout the year, we have shared progress on our Falcon Four, classroom learning, community events and partnerships, acts of kindness from students and staff, and important safety reminders.
We still have several special classroom and community experiences ahead before we say goodbye for the year. We also still have important learning to do. Teachers will be finishing final units and helping students bring closure to the work they have started.
Please encourage your child to stay engaged and keep doing their best. Letβs finish the year strong!
Have a wonderful week!
In Partnership,
Sara Davis

After School Activities
Fairmount Park is a unique school community, and many of our students walk to school each day. This helps create a close neighborhood feel where students and families often enjoy spending time together on the playground and field after school.
You may know that Fairmount Parkβs play structure and field are managed by Seattle Parks and Recreation. The school has a use permit that allows us to use these spaces during the school day, including recess. Outside of school hours, the park and field remain public spaces and are also used by community sports leagues.
During recess, school staff supervise students and help ensure they do not enter the street if a ball goes over the fence. After school, however, there are no school staff supervising play on the field.
We have heard concerns about students running into or across Fauntleroy to retrieve soccer balls after school. Please remind your child to use safe street-crossing practices and to never run into the street after a ball. If you are an adult supervising students after school, please help watch for balls going into the street and remind students to stay safe.
Thank you for your partnership in keeping our students safe.

Kindergarten Moosical
Kindergarteners performed their Barnyard Moosical for families. Each class performed as a different farm animal and sung a song written for their animal.
5th graders join the Barnyard Moosical
Current 5th graders attended kindergarten from home during the 20-21 school year. This year they were provided their missed opportunity to perform the Barnyard Moosical. Ms. Teather wrote a song to compliment the theme and both classes joined kindergarten on stage for our weekly assembly.
π¨Art Walk!
Ms. Kelly worked hard all year to help students create a variety of types of art. She had students choose from all of their creations to display for the Art Walk. Ms. Kelly thoughtfully arranged student art and had many volunteers help her to display the work throughout the school in a gallery inspired layout.
Ms. Teather recruited student musicians to play during the art walk. Families enjoyed purusing all the art and hearing the buskers perform pieces of music to add to the atmosphere.
Thank you to Ms. Kelly for working and planning all year for this wonderful event that celebrates our students' creativity. Thank you to Ms. Teather for the work you do to teach students their intstruments and to prepare them for their culminating performances this year.

Instrumental Music Concert
Ms. Teather recently led the final culminating concert for Fairmount Parkβs instrumental music program. Thanks to continued support from PTA contributions, Ms. Teather is able to open her classroom to all 4th and 5th graders who would like to learn an instrument.
Throughout the year, she teaches both first- and second-year musicians as they learn new skills and continue to grow in their playing. The year ends with a concert where students have the opportunity to showcase their hard work, progress, and joy as musicians.
Adoption Committee Applications
SPS is currently soliciting applications for teachers, students, school leaders, other school staff, families, and community members to represent the diverse needs across our district on the adoption committee. The committee will work together throughout the 2026-27 school year to recommend which materials should be adopted by the School Board, in line with School Board Policy No. 2015.
Please share the adoption committee applications with staff, students, and families who might be interested. Applications must be submitted by June 17. Please note: Applicants must be able to attend all meetings (at least nine meeting days).
