Click to Hear a Message from Carolyn Brown

We are thrilled to welcome Carolyn Brown, a renowned motivational speaker, back to the halls of Colleyville Middle School! As a former "Colt" herself, Mrs. Brown has a deep connection to our campus—her father even served as the CMS Principal during the early 1990s. She now travels across the United States sharing powerful stories that promote a culture of kindness and empathy.

Event & Opt-Out Information

While we are excited to host this presentation, we respect the preferences of our families. If you would prefer that your child not attend this assembly, please complete the Opt-Out Form no later than Tuesday, January 20th so that we may plan our alternate locations accordingly.

Students who do not attend the session will report to a designated alternate location until the assembly concludes.

Interim Assessments - 2026 CMS Altered Schedule

Welcome back! For planning purposes, please note that STAAR interim testing will take place on campus on the following dates:

  • Reading: January 20

  • Math: January 21

Please also note the following:

  • Students must come to school with their computers, headphones, and chargers.

  • Campus will be closed on testing days—no lunch deliveries, and please be mindful when scheduling appointments.

Thank you for your support.

Algebra December EOC: The December 2025 STAAR administration report data for data verification will be posted to the Family and Research portals by January 28, 2026. District testing coordinators should refer to the Family Portal page of the District and Campus Coordinator Resources for information on helping parents access the secure Family Portal.

A Note from Nurse Sibley

Attention Parents of 7th Grade GIRLS and 8th Grade BOYS: States law requires that public schools conduct a scoliosis screening on 7th grade girls and 8th grade boys. Our screening is scheduled for January 20th. This is a non-invasive look at the spine. If we get an abnormal reading, you will be notified by email. If you wish to opt out, please notify Nurse Sibley before January 19th.

AVID News/Updates

AVID School Wide Information - Being Prepared

AVID's (Advancement Via Individual Determination) mission is to close the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college and career readiness and success in a global society. AVID’s proven learning support structure is centered around developing 5 foundational college and career readiness skills -- WICOR (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading). WICOR is an instructional approach that places students at the center and empowers them to take ownership and agency of their thinking and learning by elevating engagement and providing access to rigor.

It is important that we set our students up for success for the Spring semester by helping them be prepared for school.

How to support academic preparedness at home:

  • Make sure your student has the supplies they need for school - binder, highlighters, writing utensils, and laptop charger.

  • Remind your students to charge their chromebooks at night so it will be fully charged when they come to school.

  • Ask to see your student's planner and talk through what is happening in each class.

  • Make time each week to look through your student's canvas courses and skyward. Help them keep up with upcoming and missing assignments.
