Join us in August for our third speaker in our After Hours series. Tobin Buhk is a freelance author who specializes in historic true crime. He will be here to discuss the notorious "Michigan Matricide"; a man so feared and despised his crimes inspired attempts to bring the electric chair back to Michigan. #visityourlibrary #useyourlibrary #MyRML

SMEKplus Summer Camp at SVSU

We are happy to announce that our annual SMEKplus Summer Camp dates have been set!

Junior SMEKplus (grades 2-4): July 12 - 14, 2022

Senior SMEKplus (grades 5-8): July 26 - 28, 2022

The Science and Mathematics Extravaganza for Kids (SMEKplus) summer camps, sponsored by the Regional Mathematics and Science Center, are designed to involve area students, grades 2-8, in engaging, age-appropriate science, technology, engineering and mathematics enrichment activities. SMEK has been offered here at SVSU for over 20 years. Past activities include building a trebuchet, engineering bubble wands, studying organisms from our very own wetlands, LEGO robotics, constructing a mini golf course and more!

Students participating in this 3-day camp will experience hands-on, project-based lessons taught by area certified teachers and assisted by SVSU undergraduates aspiring to become teachers, as well as enjoy lunch in the Marketplace at Doan.

We are looking forward to a fun-filled science, mathematics, engineering, and technology hands-on event!

Register here for the 2022 SMEKplus Camp

St. John Lutheran Soccer Camp

Children age 3 through grade 8 are invited to join us for a summer soccer camp. They will learn the basics of soccer and hear how Jesus makes us fearless to face our spiritual competition in this world.

The cost of the event is $20. Every child who attends will be given a camp t-shirt and camp group photo. Any soccer apparel (shin guards, cleats) is optional and not necessary to participate. However, we do suggest shin guards for older kids.
