We Are Called
We know that we are all called to holiness, and that call to holiness leads us, ultimately, to heaven. We look forward to Hallowed Evening this Thursday and All Saints' Day this Friday, and we reflect this week on our goal, which is to reach heaven. Today's readings give us some insight into how God calls us. God teaches us in today's readings that His call to each of us comes first, but we must cooperate with God's call.
In the First Reading today, from the prophet Jeremiah, we hear that the Israelite tribes, who have been exiled from the Promised Land, will return, but their return will be completed through God's purpose. In the Second Reading, from the letter to the Hebrews, we are told that God calls us, but we do not take that honor upon ourselves - God gives us the honor by His purpose.
Our Gospel reading today tells us the wonderful story of the blind man, Bartimaeus, who meets Jesus and is cured of his blindness. There are many wonderful insights in this story, but let us focus on just one. In this Gospel reading from Mark, Bartimaeus cries out to Jesus, asking for pity. The word that Mark uses for pity is the same Greek word that we sometimes utter at Mass - the word "Eleison." At Mass, we pray the word "Eleison" at the beginning of Mass, usually in English, when we pray, "Lord have mercy." "Eleison" means "have mercy."
At every Mass, we are joining with all the saints and angels in heaven. We pray, with Bartimaeus and all those who asked for God's mercy, that God will welcome us into relationship with Him. When we sing the Glory to God and the Holy, Holy, we are singing with the angels in heaven. Most especially, when the priest prays the words of consecration, God reaches down and transforms the bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Jesus.
God has called us and continues to call us to follow Him, to serve Him and to join the saints and angels in the heavenly worship of God. Let us answer His call and allow Him to do His will in us.
Pro Life Prayer to Jesus in the Eucharist
O Jesus, you came that we might have life—and have it in abundance. Together with the Father and the Holy Spirit, you form us in our mothers' wombs and call us to love you for all eternity.
As your most precious gift of human life is attacked, draw us ever closer to your Real Presence in the Eucharist. Dispel the darkness of the culture of death, for you are the light that shines in the darkness, and the darkness cannot overcome it.
By the power of your Eucharistic Presence, help us to defend the life of every human person at every stage. Transform our hearts to protect and cherish all whose lives are most vulnerable.
For you are God, forever and ever. Amen.

2025 Jubilee Year Prayer
Father in heaven,
may the faith you have given us
in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother,
and the flame of charity enkindled
in our hearts by the Holy Spirit,
reawaken in us the blessed hope
for the coming of your Kingdom.
May your grace transform us
into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel.
May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos
in the sure expectation
of a new heaven and a new earth,
when, with the powers of Evil vanquished,
your glory will shine eternally.
May the grace of the Jubilee
reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope,
a yearning for the treasures of heaven.
May that same grace spread
the joy and peace of our Redeemer
throughout the earth.
To you our God, eternally blessed,
be glory and praise for ever.
Amen

Thank You to the Fire Department and Police Department
Thank you to the Lower Makefield Fire Department for conducting a surprise fire drill on Tuesday, October 8. The Fire Department was impressed with our students and their response time to the drill. All of our students were out of the building and lined up in one and a half minutes!
Thank you to the Lower Makefield Department for returning to St. Ignatius on Tuesday, October 15, for a special visit to our PreK through Grade 2 classes! Our students were taught about fire safety and had an opportunity to walk through the fire truck.
Thank you also to the Lower Makefield Police Department for their visit to our students in PreK through Grade 2 this past week. Our students had the opportunity to meet their police dog and to learn more about safety in the community. The Lower Makefield police officers make frequent visits to our campus, sometimes to monitor traffic but more often to walk through our school building so that they are familiar with the layout of the school and so that our students feel very comfortable with police officers, especially in knowing they are here to help us.
Please pray for all of our police officers, firefighters, and first responders, in gratitude for their service and sacrifice. Please ask our Lord to keep them safe.

Phishing Scam Reminder from St. Ignatius of Antioch Parish
*****A Reminder Regarding Phishing Scams******
We will never request funds via email or text message from Fr. Brownholtz, Fr. Kennedy, Mr. Meade or any of our administrative staff, especially from a third party source. If someone tries to trick you into purchasing any gift cards through an email or text message, it is ALWAYS a scam. Important rule of thumb, when in doubt… ask someone before responding!
Important PreK Parking Reminders
Please follow these procedures for PreK drop-off and pick-up:
Upon arrival, please pull into the “Pre-K parking lot” which is directly across from the golf course and to the far left of our campus. The entrance to our parking area looks directly straight back to the yellow door of our Pre-K building. Please pull all the way forward in the designated parking lanes, leaving exit lanes empty and available. Exit lanes are marked with cones to indicate that cars are not allowed to park there. Park your car and walk your child to the Preschool yellow front entrance (“map area”).
For safety purposes, our parking area is a ONE WAY zone. All cars should exit via the
driveway to the farthest end of our campus. No car should ever back-up to exit. There is NO PARKING along the grass leading up to our building nor in the main parking area
in front of the big school. Please pass this information along to anyone who may do
drop-off or pick-up for you.
Parking Lot:
For the safety of ALL, it is imperative to abide by the arrival and dismissal procedures
stated above. All cars must enter, pull all the way forward down the designated parking lanes of the
preschool lot, and exit via the farthest driveway. We appreciate your support with this.
Please see the map below as a visual representation of the guidelines above.
Please see the attached letter below for more information on pre-school, including parking guidelines, drop-off times, and other important information.
Arrival Procedures Reminders
A few reminders as we start our new school year:
- Kindergarten through Grade 8 students who arrive at school between 8:00 am and 8:15 am will go to the Gym and wait until they are sent to their homerooms.
- All Kindergarten through Grade 8 students should arrive at school by 8:30 am.
- PreK-4 students must be walked to the PreK building between 8:15 and 8:30 am.
- PreK-3 students must be walked to the PreK building between 8:30 am and 8:45 am.
Car Drop-Off and Pick-Up Reminders
Please read these procedures for car drop off and car pick up.
Kindergarten through Grade 8 car drop off:
- Please stay in the drop off line and do not drive around the car in front of you.
- Please wait until the car in front of you pulls forward before you pull forward.
- We ask that parents do not get out of the car; if your child needs help, one of the staff members on duty will help your child to exit the car.
Kindergarten through Grade 8 car pick up:
- Please park in one of the parking lanes between the church and the playground.
- Please wait near the lines of cars until your child exits the school building and comes to you.
- When all your children have come to you, please take them to your car and wait.
- Please wait until the school staff member gives the signal for your line of cars to pull out and drive out of the parking lot before starting to drive away.
For Pre-K drop off and pick up:
- Please use the long parking lanes between Reading Ave. and the big field behind the Pre-K building.
- Please leave the lanes with cones at the end of the lane empty for parents to drive out once they have walked their Pre-K students to the Pre-K building.
- Please take extra care as you are driving, parking, and leaving after Pre-K drop off and pick up.

Archdiocesan School of Distinguished Instruction
St. Ignatius of Antioch Elementary School has once again been honored by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia as a School of Distinguished Instruction. Schools of Distinguished Instruction are determined by their Terra Nova test scores. This year St. Ignatius was one of only three schools that scored 100% in the "Potential" category, meaning that 100% of the grade levels that took the test scored higher than expected, based on the InView scores. Thank you to our teachers, our parents, and our students for this achievement!

Crusaders Care Our Fall SIS Day of service on Saturday, November 23rd!
What is Crusaders Care?
Crusaders Care was developed a few years ago by the Home and School Association as our major school service project throughout the year. This is a family-friendly event, and in fact, we encourage you to bring your children to this event in order to share with them the gift of service. Over the years, we have expanded the groups in the local community that our school supports through the generosity of the school and parish on this day. This year, the organizations that we will be supporting are:
- Neighbor in Need
- Caring for Friends
- Cradle of Hope
- Trenton Soup Kitchen
- ERA Food Pantry
How can I contribute before the day of service arrives?
In the weeks leading up to Crusaders Care, there will be multiple opportunities to donate much needed items for the service project. We will communicate additional opportunities to donate pantry and other nonperishable items. Since we have done this for a couple of years now, we know the quantities of items that we will need for the meal and snack bags - in that regard, we will move toward the approach of using a Sign Up Genius for certain items that need a specified quantity to ensure we have enough to complete a particular number of bags to be distributed. We will release the Sign-Up Genius registration through this page and the Weekly Home and School updates, so you can keep an eye out for those in early November. Other items that do not require a specific number for donation will be available for donation by grade/classroom. Please be on the lookout for additional information after Trunk or Treat!
How can I get involved on the Day of Service?
Our actual day of service typically runs for 2 hours or so. We meet in the cafeteria and will have several stations available for parents to work together with their children to volunteer in several ways as follows:
- Make handwritten greeting cards to pair with meal and snack bags for donation
- Tie No-Sew Baby Blankets for donation to Cradle of Hope
- Assemble Snack Bags
- Assemble Meal Bags
- Roll Plastic Cutlery and Napkins to accompany meal bags
- Sort Pantry Items as needed
How can I help after the Day of Service is complete?
We require drivers to deliver items to all of our partner organizations as listed above. If you are able to help with delivery on the Monday following Crusaders Care, please let Jaimee, Lucy, or Natalia know!
Thanksgiving Break The school will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday from Wednesday 11/27 through Friday 11/29. The school will reopen on Monday, December 2nd.
