Superintendent's Weekly Update

A NOTE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
October 17, 2025
Happy Friday PUSD!
Today I had the opportunity to attend Mt. Carmel High School’s Multicultural Fair, where the vibrant diversity of our district was on full display. It was inspiring to see students proudly share their languages, traditions, and stories with one another.
In Poway Unified, our students speak a remarkable range of languages — including Spanish, Mandarin, Farsi, Hindi, Korean, Urdu, Russian, and many more. This multilingualism is a great asset, enriching our classrooms and strengthening our community.
We are truly fortunate to share in the many cultures and languages that make Poway Unified such a special place to learn and grow.
Sincerely,
Ben

DISTRICT UPDATES
Free Parent Workshop: Grief and Loss
PUSD is partnering with Elizabeth Hospice to offer a free Zoom workshop for parents and families across our district. Join us Wednesday, November 12, from 6:00–7:00 p.m. to learn strategies for supporting children through grief and loss. Don’t miss this valuable opportunity to connect and learn!
PPMC Joint Internship Fair
The Joint Internship Fair, held in collaboration with Palomar College and PPMC, was a great success! The event began featured guest speakers who shared insights and advice with students. Students had the chance to visit different employers, gather information, and participate in on-site internship interviews. It was an exciting opportunity for career exploration and connecting with the community.
Support the Dream to STEAM Campaign
The PUSD Foundation recently announced the launch of its annual Dream to STEAM giving campaign, which helps fund Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) opportunities for students across our district. Because Poway Unified receives the lowest per-pupil funding of any unified school district in San Diego County, the Foundation plays a vital role in bridging the gap to provide the experiences our students need to thrive.
