Message from the Administrators
Families go through various ups and downs, and it's important for us, as a community, to come together to provide the support and understanding needed during challenging times. If you or someone you know is facing difficulties, please know that you are not alone. Our Dan O. Root II Health and Wellness is a caring and compassionate community, and we are here to help.
Whether it's emotional support, resources, or assistance with navigating challenging situations, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Our administrators, teachers, and support staff are available to listen, provide guidance, and connect you with the appropriate resources.
We encourage open communication, and your well-being is our top priority. Together, we can create a supportive environment where everyone feels valued and cared for. If you would like to discuss your situation privately, please feel free to contact the front office at 707-421-4240.
Remember, asking for help is a sign of strength, and we are here to support you in any way we can. Let us stand together as a resilient and compassionate community, supporting one another through both the challenging and joyous moments life brings.

Community and Culture
Many cultural celebrations take place during the month of December.
Bodhi Day, celebrated on December 8th, commemorates the day the Buddha (sometimes referred to as Siddhartha or Shakyamuni) achieved spiritual enlightenment under the Bodhi tree.
Christmas is a Christian festival celebrating Christ’s birth. For others, Christmas holds a different meaning in that it is a special season filled with the spirit of love and generosity.
Hanukkah is a Jewish festival that reaffirms the ideals of Judaism and commemorates, in particular, the rededication of the Second Temple of Jerusalem by the lighting of candles on each day of the festival.
Kwanzaa is a weeklong celebration held in the United States that honors African heritage in African-American culture. Kwanzaa is observed from December 26th to January 1st, and culminates in gift giving and a big feast. The holiday is relatively new, compared to other holidays celebrated in the U.S.
Winter Solstice (also known as Yule) is one of the oldest winter celebrations in the world. The celebration of Winter Solstice takes place on the shortest day and longest night of the year. In the Northern Hemisphere, it takes place between December 20 and 23, depending on the year.
