From the Principal's Desk

Dear Salt Creek Families,

I want to send a huge thank you to everyone who came out to our Community Showcase. It was wonderful to see so many of our Salt Creek families together enjoying the evening. We appreciate your continued support of our students, staff, and school. One of our goals at Salt Creek is to build a strong partnership between our school and families, and events like this are a great reminder of what a special community we have. We are grateful to have you as part of it.

As we move further into the school year, we are starting to see some cooler temperatures, especially in the mornings. Please keep an eye on the changing weather and make sure your child comes to school dressed appropriately for the day. We will continue to enjoy outdoor recess whenever the weather allows, so on cooler days, please consider sending your child with a sweatshirt, light jacket, or coat. The weather can change quite a bit throughout the day, and having an extra layer will help keep our Little Vikings comfortable and ready to enjoy their time outside.

Our next opportunity to get together is FTC McTeacher Night on September 22nd. We are looking forward to another fun evening with our families and hope to see many of you there.

Finally, our Lost and Found is still relatively small, but it is beginning to grow. If your child is missing a sweatshirt, jacket, water bottle, or anything else, please encourage them to take a look. Also, please remember to label your child's belongings whenever possible. It makes it much easier for us to get those items back to their owners.

Thank you again for your continued support and partnership. We have had a great start to the school year, and I am excited about everything still ahead of us. It has been wonderful getting to know our students and families even better, and I look forward to seeing everyone at our upcoming events.

Overdue Breakfast/ Lunch Balances

Don't forget to check and pay any overdue lunch balances. You can check balances and pay on your parent Skyward account. You can also send cash or check payment to school with your child in a marked envelope with name and what payment is for. The office will then account for the cash or check payment on your student's Skyward.

Bus Information Bus Information

First Student

Please be advised that there are times when our buses are running late. First Student will notify us of any time delays so we can notify parents of the status. Sometimes a situation can happen when the school office is closed. School office hours are from 7:15 am to 3:15 pm. In this case, you may contact First Student at 630-279-2720. Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd-grade students must have a parent or other adult meet them at the bus stop every day after school.

Standard Response Protocol

Salt Creek District 48 has adopted an emergency protocol response from the I Love U Guys Foundation. This is a program that has been adopted by many of the schools within DuPage County. Over the summer, the administrative team attended training on the protocol and is passing along the training to all staff. We also want to make families aware of the five different protocols so you can be familiar with the language you may hear your child or the school use.

In your parent portal in skyward, click on the fee payment tile, then in the far right hand top corner click on the "make online payments" button. This will take you to Revtrak. Make sure to sign up before you try to make payment. Once you can sign in, click the Make a Payment button in the middle of the page. This new service will streamline the payments so you can make a payment or set up recurring payments. This is directly connected to Skyward so you see the money immediately go to your child's account. If you have any questions please email or call your school office.

Preschool Payments: Once in Revtrak you will see in the upper right area an arrow next to SHOP. Click the arrow and pick Preschool in order for you to complete your payment. If you have any questions please email or call the Salt Creek school office.
