Glenwood
This Week's Scouting Report
Thursday March 19, 2026
Good evening, Glenwood families,
Tomorrow marks the start of spring. The weather is shifting, and the busy season is already underway at Glenwood and at home. With spring break just a week away, take time to rest, recharge, and enjoy time with family and friends.
When we return, the pace will pick up quickly with PSSAs and many engaging GES activities ahead. Take a look at the upcoming "happenings" below.
Best,
Josh Rehak, Principal

Third Grade Updates
Third graders can feel it in the air—spring is tiptoeing closer, and the children are blooming right along with it! We recently wrapped up an out-of-this-world journey through the solar system. The timing couldn’t have been better as our studies aligned with a rare planetary parade and even a lunar eclipse! We’re now exploring the rich histories and meaningful contributions of Native American cultures.
Meanwhile, our mathematicians are diving into the delightful world of fractions—slicing shapes into equal parts, discovering unit fractions, and learning the special names behind the numbers (hello, numerator and denominator!).
There’s been a bit of Irish cheer sprinkled throughout our classrooms this week, too! Mr. Davies’ class led the way, creating vibrant rainbows with clouds full of math equations, proof that learning can be both colorful and clever.
.
Mrs. Bruno’s class kicked off March Book Madness with great enthusiasm, gathering around as Mr. G read one of the Sweet 16 books, Mighty, Mighty, Construction Site by Sherri Rinker.
Over in Mrs. Grace-Green’s room, scientists went green in the tastiest way possible! Students celebrated Green Foods Day by examining, classifying, and, of course, enjoying their delicious discoveries.
And Ms. Coyne’s class was feeling especially lucky as they learned an Irish jig and delighted visitors with their lively performances. It was truly a toe-tapping treat! With curious minds and joyful hearts, we are ready to make this spring their brightest chapter yet!
Glenwood Spotlight
JUST LIKE THE CHARACTERS
Each week we will highlight anyone who has exemplified qualities similar to our Philly mascots, possessing the following:
GRITTY (Flyers Ice Hockey) Resilient with a ‘never give up’ attitude
FRANKLIN (76er's Basketball): Loyal friend
SWOOP (Eagles Football): Strong and determined
LOYAL FRIEND
In Mrs. Forsyth’s class, the students celebrated what makes each of us unique by designing creative, one-of-a-kind socks for “Rock Your Socks” Day during Rose Tree Media’s Inclusion Week.
Thank you to everyone for participating in this week's Inclusion days, reminding us to be a friend to everyone.

The online store will be available through Tuesday, March 31 at 11:59PM. These items are offered for a limited time, and many will not return until our Fall online sale. Orders will be ready approximately 4 weeks after the store closes. You can opt to have the order shipped directly to your home or delivered to your child’s classroom.
Don't miss this chance to support our school and stock up on your Glenwood gear. Spiritwear days are a great way to feel connected and celebrate being a part of the Glenwood community. Thank you for your continued support! Any questions, contact Liz Doyle at eldoyle81@gmail.com.
Five Below Fundraising Shopping Event - Week of 3/22/26
Stop in to the Five Below in Newtown Square (4847 West Chester Pike) for your Easter shopping during the week of 3/22/26 - 3/29/26 to benefit Glenwood’s 5th grade class. Bring the attached flyer and present it to the cashier and 10% of your purchase will be donated back to the school!
Basket Bingo March 24th at Penncrest High School
Join us for a fun-filled evening of Bingo for kids AND adults! Bingo boards will be provided and admission is free. Come ready to play and win exciting prizes! We’re excited for a great turnout. Please be mindful of our limited space in the cafeteria when deciding how many additional family members or friends to bring. Last year was standing room only!
Between Bingo games, we’ll raffle off our amazing class baskets. Thank you to our homeroom reps for organizing them — and to YOU for your generous donations!
Each Glenwood child will receive one free raffle ticket for a basket of their choice (students will submit their choice to their teacher).
Additional raffle basket tickets will be available for purchase on Membership Toolkit 3/16.
Please note: Raffle tickets will NOT be sold the night of the event.
A concession stand will be open selling soft pretzels, water, and other snacks.
New this year: Pizza will not be sold at the event.
We need your help to make this event a success! Consider making a monetary donation to help stock our concession stand: Snack Bar Monetary Donation We’re looking for adult volunteers to help with concessions and event support. If you’re attending, please consider volunteering for part of the evening: Sign Up to Volunteer / Donate Items (We are reaching out to high school students as well, but adult help is greatly appreciated!)
5th Grade Pictures Needed!
We are now collecting pictures of our fifth graders to be included in the fifth grade slideshow and baby picture display case at the end of the year. We are asking each parent to upload the following:
1 baby picture of your fifth grader to be included in our baby picture display case. In late spring, we put together a baby picture display case for our 5th graders in the main lobby. The students have fun guessing who's who!
Any and all pictures you have of our 5th graders at school activities throughout their years at Glenwood. Please upload pictures in the corresponding grade level folders, K-5th grade. Please ONLY include pictures at school or school-related events. For virtual years, you may include a few pictures of your child "virtually learning". Please note group shots work best as we’d like to get as many kids included as possible. These pictures will be compiled into a slideshow for our 5th graders to watch at the end of the year.
Please have all pictures uploaded by Friday, April 24th.
