Week of August 31 - Sept 4
🦁 One Week Down, Lion Cubs! 🦁
We did it—our first week of school is in the books! 🎉
What an exciting start to the 2026–2027 school year! We are so proud of our Lion Cubs for coming to school ready to learn, build friendships, and ROAR with pride. Our first week has been filled with new experiences, new routines, and opportunities to learn what it means to be part of the Haw River Elementary family.
As we head into Week 2, we will continue building strong relationships and creating a school community where every student feels valued, loved, and supported.
❤️ CKH Character Focus: Empathy
During August and September, our CKH character focus is Empathy.
Empathy means taking the time to understand how someone else may be feeling and showing kindness, compassion, and care. It means putting ourselves in someone else’s shoes and remembering that everyone has feelings, experiences, and challenges that may not always be visible.
At school, we will encourage our Lion Cubs to:
💛 Notice when someone may need a friend or a helping hand.
👂 Listen to others and try to understand their feelings.
🤝 Treat classmates and adults with kindness and respect.
🦁 Think about how their words and actions affect others.
❤️ Help create a school where everyone feels that they belong and matter.
Families, you can help reinforce empathy at home by asking:
How did someone make you feel good today?
Did you notice someone who needed help or encouragement?
How did you show kindness to someone today?
How do you think your friend/classmate felt in that situation?
Thank you for partnering with us as we begin another amazing year together. Week 1 was just the beginning—there is so much more learning, growing, and ROARing ahead!
🦁 Let’s make Week 2 even better!

We are a family. We are Lion Cubs. We ROAR!
🦁 ¡Una semana menos, Lion Cubs! 🦁
¡Lo logramos! ¡Nuestra primera semana de clases ya terminó! 🎉
Somos Lion Cubs. ¡Hacemos ROAR!
