The Weekly Buzz
From Palmer River Elementary School
May 23, 2025
Dear Families,
This week, our school was filled with history, creativity, and pride as our third grade students participated in a truly wonderful Wax Museum event. Each student brought historical figures to life with impressive costumes, well-researched presentations, and confident performances. It was an incredible showcase of learning, curiosity, and hard work.
We are so proud of each and every student for the dedication they showed in preparing for this special day. Their enthusiasm and courage to step into character and share their knowledge with an audience was truly inspiring. Events like these help ignite a love of learning, empower students to use their voices, and shape confident, capable young leaders.
A heartfelt thank you to our amazing staff for the time, energy, and care they put into guiding students through the research and presentation process. Your commitment to excellence made this experience both meaningful and memorable for our learners.
And thank you to our families for your continued support—we’re so glad so many of you could join us to celebrate this joyful learning moment together!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kristine Kefor, Principal

The Buzz from the Health Office 🐝
Uprise in Gastrointestinal (GI) Bugs – What You Need to Know!
We have seen an increase in gastrointestinal (GI) illness cases, including stomach aches, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. These illnesses can spread quickly in schools, so please follow the health precautions to help prevent their spread.
Keep your child home if sick: If your child has vomiting, diarrhea, or fever, please keep them home until they are symptom-free for at least 24 hours without medication. If a child is dismissed from the nurse for GI issues, they must stay home the next day from school. This absence will be excused.
Hand washing: Please remind your child to wash their hands frequently, especially after using the bathroom and before eating. Proper handwashing is one of the best ways to prevent the spread of germs.
Disinfecting: Our school staff cleans and disinfects frequently touched surfaces daily, but it’s always helpful to ensure your child practices good hygiene at home and school.
If your child is feeling sick or showing symptoms of a GI illness, please don't hesitate to contact me for further guidance. Your child’s health is our top priority!
Physicals Needed for 4th Graders
This is a quick reminder for families of our 4th-grade students: I’m still missing over half of the required physicals that need to be submitted for your child to transition smoothly into middle school next year. These physicals are essential as they help ensure that our students are healthy and ready for the physical demands of middle school, including sports.
Please submit your child’s physical exam form as soon as possible. You can email or bring the form to the nurse.
Thank you for your continued support in keeping our school community healthy! If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me directly at eferreira@drregional.org
Wishing you all good health and a wonderful spring season!
Kind Regards,
Elizabeth Ferreira, RN, BSN, SNT

The Monthly Mindset
May's Monthly Mindset is Cooperation!
Cooperation means working together nicely with others to reach a goal or solve a problem. It’s about being a good team player, sharing ideas, listening, and helping each other. When we cooperate, everyone feels included, things go more smoothly, and we can do amazing things together!

Rehoboth PTSA Announcements
Upcoming Elections for the Board
Our PTSA is gearing up for the upcoming election, and… we’re currently flying solo. That’s right—no nominations yet. Most urgently, we can’t move forward without a Secretary (seriously, the bylaws say so). Without a full board, many of the fun events and helpful programs we all love (and our kids look forward to!) could see major changes. Don’t worry, we promise it’s not all Robert’s Rules and spreadsheets. There’s laughter, friendships, and the chance to make a real impact.
Elections will be held at our membership meeting on June 12, 2025 at 6:30pm and more information can be found on our website (rehobothptsa.org/Elections). Nominate yourself or someone else today!
