Mrs. Smith’s Snapchat…

Hello Lakeside Families,

We are just finishing up a fantastic week here at Lakeside Elementary. It's hard to believe that it is almost time for Spring Break. As you may recall, when we delayed the start of the 20-21 school year due to COVID, we had to shorten our Spring Break from two weeks to one. Spring Break is scheduled for March 29th - April 2nd. School will resume on Monday, April 5th.

Linked here is our district newsletter for the month of March. It can also be found on our website by clicking on Newsroom under the Explore Tab.

One of our Invest in Warren Strategic Plan focus areas is Investing in Relationships with our families and the community. In an effort to cultivate these relationships, we are creating opportunities to hear from our valued partners, you! The Warren Family and Caregiver Survey for second semester is now available and can be accessed at the following link, bit.ly/WarrenSurvey2021. The survey will remain open through March 29th. Your participation is greatly appreciated.

Now, more than ever, we need to honor and recognize the great work of Warren Township teachers! Here’s your chance to recognize an exemplary Warren teacher. The week of May 3rd is Teacher Appreciation Week! To celebrate teachers, Warren Arts & Education Foundation is doing fun giveaways for the entire week. Your favorite teacher can win $100 and other fun giveaways. Submit your nomination on or before April 2nd. Click the link here.

As always, I thank you for your continued support of Lakeside Elementary! Take care, be safe, and have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Smith

PTA Message

Dear Lakeside Parents,

We are excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This opens up Lakeside Elementary PTA to new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for Lakeside Students.

The best part? Donations do not come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases,

you simply enter the product codes here: coke.com/give/schools and our school receives a donation.

If you wish to send in the coke bottle caps or coke rewards from inside the can cartons, we will be happy

to enter the codes.

Help Lakeside make the most of this program and learn more at Coke.com/give.

Thank you,

Lakeside PTA

Wintertime Recess

School Board and School policy encourage outdoor recess for our K-4 students whenever possible to encourage activity and social playtime. Our threshold for cold weather is 20 degrees. When the temperature falls below 20, students will have recess indoors. The 20 degree temperature would also include wind chill. In other words, if the temperature is 25 but the windchill falls below 20 degrees, students would remain indoors for recess. If students are not feeling well or parents want them to stay in for health reasons beyond 1-2 days, a doctor's note is required.

Updated Facemask Guidance

Warren received updated guidance that initiated an update to our district's S.A.F.E. Reopening Plan. The plan has been updated on our website. Specifically, page 10 in reference to face coverings now reads, "Recent updates from health officials discourage the use of face shields as a replacement for face masks. All MSD of Warren Township staff and students should wear face masks unless an extenuating circumstance exists and a face shield is needed. School administrators may approve the use of a face shield in these cases."

CAR RIDERS/DAYCARE Student Drop-off/Pick-up Procedures

We ask that our parents follow these guidelines to ensure that every student has a safe arrival and dismissal:

All students will be required to be dropped off and picked up through the car rider line to maintain safety standards. Parking at the front and East end of the building and walking children to and from the entrances will not be allowed. We want to prevent children and adults walking through the path of cars or buses on the property at any time.

Staff members will be present outside beginning at 7:55 a.m. each morning for student drop-off. Please do not release your children until a staff member signals the beginning of our process. Students will not be counted tardy until 8:05 a.m. Our afternoon pick-up procedures will begin at 3:00 p.m. If you are in a hurry, you are encouraged to be at or near the front of the line. We will implement our dismissal procedures as quickly and safely as possible for all.

Thank you very much for your support with helping ensure Lakeside maintains safety as our priority during our student entrance and dismissal each day!

SCHOOL DISTRICT PUBLICATIONS/NEWS MEDIA USE

The occasion may arise when the school district wants to recognize your child or your child's school. This may include your child's photo, your child's name or your child's work in district publications, newsletters, on school district websites, and in electronic/social media or in staff training videos. We may also want to tell the media (including newspapers, television, and radio) about your child's achievements. We never knowingly release information about a student to anyone who wants to use it for commercial/political purposes. However, we will honor your request to not include your child in these types of recognitions if you notify your child's school office in writing that you do not want this type of information released.
