Message From Mr. Unger Message From Mr. Unger

Hey Team,

I know we were all looking forward to a smooth and successful start to the school year last week, and the unexpected snowstorm certainly threw a wrench in our plans. While the disruption was unavoidable, I'm confident that we can quickly get back on track and create a positive and productive learning environment for our students.

This week, we'll be focusing on welcoming kids back to school, re-establishing routines, building classroom community, and reviewing essential skills. I understand that this may require some flexibility and adaptability from all of us, but I know we can work together to make the most of this situation.

Go Tigers!

Weekly Focus - Welcoming Environment

To welcome students back to school after winter break, you can:

  • Start with icebreaker activities to re-connect
  • Review previously learned material
  • Create a warm and welcoming classroom environment
  • Set new year goals together for your classroom
  • Incorporate fun activities into the curriculum
  • Show extra patience and empathy as they transition back to school routines

Snow Days Update

It is important that we all understand how our Snow Days work with the new Alternate calendar options. The way we make up the missed days is different than what schools have done in the past.

Please click the button below that pertains to your job for more information about how we will handle snow days this school year. The documents are very detailed and explain the process for you.

Required Seizure Training - All Employees Required Seizure Training - All Employees

The Seizure Safe Schools Act 286 now requires that ALL school personnel who could come in contact with students who suffer from seizures complete professional development on seizure safety every two years.

The recommendation from the state is an online training program through the Epilepsy Foundation. This program provides an overview of seizures and epilepsy, seizure first aid, seizure action plans, rescue therapies, seizure emergencies and how to support students in school settings.

Again, this training is for ALL personnel, both certified and classified. Certified personnel, please send your completion certificate to your building principal. Classified personnel, please send your completion certificate to Mrs. Ward.

Words of Wisdom Words of Wisdom

Words Matter

It's easy to overlook the power our words carry, but the truth is that what we say can change someone's day, their perspective, or even their life. A simple compliment, an encouraging word, or an expression of gratitude can light a spark in someone who needed it.

Think about the last time someone said something that made you feel seen or understood. Those words likely stayed with you, reminding you of your strength or potential. Let’s do the same for others.

In a world that can sometimes feel heavy, let’s be the light. Reach out to a friend, a colleague, or even a stranger. A small gesture of kindness might be just what they need to keep going.
