Helmer Nature Center

We have some exciting news to share - Helmer Nature Center has been selected as one of 50 Community Eclipse Ambassador organizations sponsored by the RMSC to educate the community and promote the April 8, 2024 total solar eclipse. The museum received over 150 applications from the Rochester area and surrounding counties and we're in! Thank you to RMSC for this great opportunity!

Helmer/WICSD will serve as the primary host site for the Irondequoit public and we have already begun planning for fun and educational activities open to all on April 8, 2024. Stay tuned over the coming months as we continue to plan for this unique event!

Helmer Nature Center is turning 50 next year! Stay tuned for ways to help us celebrate this special anniversary with hikes, presentations, events, and activities throughout the 2023-2024 school year.

Helmer Nature Center is turning 50 during the 2023-2024 school year and we'll be witnessing

a total solar eclipse in Rochester on Monday, April 8th, 2024. To celebrate both of these

unique events, Helmer is hosting a contest to design a special nature center logo for

the 2023-2024 school year. We are asking students from all across the

West Irondequoit School District to help us design this once-in-a-lifetime logo!
