End-of-Year & Graduation Information
Senior Class and Parents/Guardians:
Graduation and related end-of-high school activities will take place very soon. To make these events successful and to allow each family to make plans, we are providing the following information and schedule.
There are less than two months left in this school year, which will go by extremely fast. It is important for all seniors to continue to try their best academically and continue to attend school. Please do not give your seniors permission to miss school.
These last weeks are vital for finishing their high school education strong. Stressing the importance of good attendance and reliability now sets the standard for future workplace and/or college attendance.
Many of our seniors will be taking IB exams in late April and early May, and it is vital students attend and sit for their IB exams.
Sitting for IB exams provides meaningful opportunities for students to demonstrate their knowledge they’ve learned in these courses, which will only help prepare them for the future, whatever direction they choose to take.
There are a multitude of senior events our students will be looking forward to, including attending prom, going on the senior trip, end-of-year awards and celebrations, and graduation practices and rehearsals. We want this time to be fun and eventful for all seniors, but we also want our students to be safe and walk across the stage at EagleBank Arena on Tuesday, June 9.
While we are excited for graduation and end-of-year events, it is important to note that the expectations laid out in the Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R) document continue to remain in effect until graduation concludes. Seniors who are in violation of the SR&R may not be able to participate in some/all end-of-year senior events and activities. Please do not allow inappropriate actions and behaviors to ruin what should be a joyous time for all students and their families. We want this to be a safe and happy time.
We are very proud of the Class of 2026 and have been honored to work with them toward this significant accomplishment. The following pages are packed with information, so please read everything carefully. Should you have any questions regarding the information located in this senior letter, please contact Mr. Cary Dimmick, Stephanie Payne, or Alicia Clarke.

Juliet also performed a solo in the piece “Children Will Listen.” Students throughout Virginia went through a rigorous audition process to compete for positions in these ensembles, and it is one of the highest levels of musical ensembles available for students in Virginia.
*MV Students Present at VT Science Expo*
Congratulations to two MVHS sophomore students - Kaelin Walker and Samya Adyel - who participated in the Virginia Tech Science Expo on April 18th, 2026.
Kaelin and Samya were invited to this event following their participation in the FCPS Regional Science Fair in March 2026.

Thank you Kaelin and Samya for representing MVHS so well!
** MV Business & Finance Students Participate in "Hands on Banking" **
Wells Fargo volunteers facilitated the Wells Fargo Hands on Banking interactive program this past Wednesday at Mount Vernon High School.
MVHS was selected out of all the FCPS schools to receive this important financial presentation - which is specifically designed to provide young adults with valuable insights into managing financial matters and overcoming challenges through careful planning.
The topics covered during this program included budgeting, comparison shopping, evaluating needs, wants and tradeoffs in a relevant and engaging way.
Following the Hands on Banking program, Wells Fargo and Society for Financial Education and Professional Development (SFEPD) Student Ambassadors from Howard University hosted a panel discussion for our students on how to properly prepare financially for college.
** MV Spring Musical **
"Once Upon A Mattress"
April 30th to May 2nd
Please consider joining us for our spring musical, Once Upon A Mattress!
“Many moons ago in a far-off place, Queen Aggravain decreed no couples could marry until her son, Prince Dauntless, found a bride. Princesses came from far and wide to win the hand of the prince, but none could pass the impossible tests given to them by the Queen. That is, until the “shy” swamp princess, Winnifred the Woebegone, showed up. Would she be able to pass the Sensitivity Test, marry her prince and help Lady Larken and Sir Harry to the altar? Carried on a wave of wonderful songs, by turns hilarious and raucous, romantic and melodic, this rollicking spin on the classic tale The Princess and the Pea provides some side-splitting shenanigans. For after all, a princess is a delicate thing.”
Performances will be:
- April 30 at 7:00pm
- May 1 at 7:00pm
- May 2 at 1:00pm
- May 2 at 7:00pm
Ticket prices are:
- $10.00 for General Admission
- $8.00 for Military/Senior Citizens
- $7.00 for students

** Fort Hunt Flag Football **
Dear Fort Hunt Families,
A message from the Fort Hunt Summer Flag Football Program:
We’re excited to announce our Summer Flag Football program, kicking off on June 3rd and running through July 22nd!
Our spring season emphasized fun, fundamentals, and introducing the game. As we transition into the summer program, we’ll continue to build on that foundation, but with a stronger focus on competition and teamwork. Players will have more opportunities to apply what they’ve learned in game situations while continuing to develop their skills in a structured and supportive environment.
While competition will be elevated, development remains our top priority. Our coaching staff is committed to helping each athlete improve their football IQ, technique, and confidence as we prepare them for the next level, including tackle football.
This is a great opportunity for players to stay active, grow as teammates, and continue building their love for the game all while having fun along the way.
More details regarding registration is below. We look forward to seeing your athletes out on the field this summer!
Our goal is to form at least four teams of eight to ten kids at each age group. Please register early so we can conduct evaluations and structuring teams. We're trying to start practices and games on time.
Here's more about the Fort Hunt House League Flag Program:
· Summer Flag begins at Quander Road School 6:00 - 8:00 PM (June 3rd - July 22nd)
Our House League Flag football program is designed to offer a safe, dynamic, and competitive environment for young athletes to both discover and develop the skills and techniques necessary to succeed on both sides of the ball. The slate of practices and games ensures that all flag football participants receive comprehensive instruction and gain a keen understanding of the sport.
(Boys & girls ages 5-14) Flag Football will play two games a week. We will have two practices the first week of the season and after that the kids will play games on (Monday and Wednesday). This will be a house league so travel is restricted to the local Fort Hunt community.
Practice and game times are set by age group, please see below.

In the event of a 3-hour early release, lunch service will still be available between 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Additionally, students may not be denied a breakfast or lunch meal for any reason. FNS will work with school administrators to communicate low/negative account balances.
Menus
School menus offer a variety of entrees, fruits, and vegetables that meet or exceed USDA guidelines, including nutrient standards. Menus, allergens, and nutrition information are all available online at LINQ Connect. School menus will be published monthly, starting one week before the first day of school. FNS makes every effort to offer items as listed on the planned menu. Unanticipated substitutions are published on LINQ Connect whenever possible.
