A Message from the President
Normally, I dread the time change and losing that precious hour of sleep, but Spring brings renewed energy and hope. The days are longer, the sun shines brighter, and this season fills our campuses with the buzz of sports, prom, and graduations, exciting beginnings and meaningful endings.
As School Resource Officers, we have the unique privilege of standing alongside our students during these milestone moments. My hope is that even in the busyness of this season, we take time to recognize the incredible impact we have and the opportunity we’re given to witness and influence these pivotal chapters in our students’ lives.
We are also one month closer to our annual TASRO Conference. One month closer to reconnecting with our extended family, networking with colleagues from across the state, and learning from some of the very best in our profession. I encourage you to take a few moments to read through this newsletter carefully. The early bird registration deadline is quickly approaching, as are the deadlines for scholarship applications and award nominations.
As always, if there is anything we can do to support you or any questions we can answer, we are just a phone call away and always happy to help.
Stay safe, stay engaged, and we'll see you soon!
Sincerely,
Zach Duer
President
Texas Association of School Resource Officers

NEW WEBSITE >> EDUCATORS WELCOME!
We recognize the importance of the partnerships our SROs have with their team of school administrators. TASRO is striving to offer training opportunities that benefit both SROs and school staff. We have added a new EDUCATOR tab under the "About Us" portion of our website. We also have educator specific resources under our "Resources" tab on the website.
We encourage you to invite your administrators and other relevant school leaders to our Annual School Safety Conference!
Each month we will be sharing valuable updates and resources. Some of the resources may be great for you. Some of the resources may be great to share with school staff, parents, or students. If you have specific questions related to Texas Education Code or school related matters, please feel free to submit questions to our Educator Representative- Dr. Stephanie Duer (sduer@esc6.net).

I HAD NO IDEA!
This is a fantastic website to share with parents. I Had No Idea covers internet safety and cyber empowerment topics from AI & Chatbots to Grooming to Sextortion. There are also tools for cyber empowerment to teach students about media literacy and misinformation as well as cyber citizenship, oversharing, and the fate of your photos. It is a great tool for parents raising kids during the digital age.

Ready Kids Emergency Preparedness
There are many things happening in our world that leave us feeling out of control. One way to help our students and families combat anxiety is to promote agency and empowerment. Ready Kids is a great resource with curriculum and resources for student safety, opportunities for teens like Youth Preparedness Council or Teen Community Emergency Response Team (Teen CERT), as well as resources for families like Family Emergency Planning kits. These resources can help students take a leadership role in safety and preparedness both at school and at home.
