---Information for Rogers Families---
Lunch Visitors - SIGN UP REQUIRED
Lunch visitors have begun on campus and we have enjoyed seeing families have a meal with their students!
Please remember that sign ups are required in order to eat lunch on campus with your student. If the sign up for the grade level is full and a parent comes to eat lunch, unfortunately we will not be able to accommodate you that day. The sign up is linked below for quick access!
As a reminder, we ask that parents visit 1-2 times per month to allow all interested visitors the opportunity to eat lunch with their student. You must bring an ID in order to be granted access to the building.
Finally, we ask that you do not park in the fire lane.

Rogers Campus Logistics and Helpful Information for Families
Please review this information before the first day of school, August 10th.
Student Meal Accounts & Meal Benefits 22-23
Free and Reduced Application
Frisco ISD urges families who may qualify for meal benefits due to low family income to submit an application. In addition to free school meals, there are a number of additional benefits, detailed below, that students can receive when a family qualifies and shares their eligibility status. In addition, Frisco ISD receives additional state and federal funding for each student who qualifies for free or reduced-price meals. These funds provide extra academic support and resources to students and schools.
Parents are encouraged to complete the application online; however, if you prefer to complete a paper copy, you can access those files below. We will also have paper copies available during our Meet the Teacher Nights.
What is Title 1?

Principal Penny will be reviewing this slideshow on Sept. 15th @ 5:30 PM during the first PTA general meeting of the school year. We hope to see you there!
If you are unable to attend the first meeting option, Principal Penny will offer a second opportunity on September. 16th at 8:30 AM in the Rogers library.
Parent Rights to Know Letter 22-23
In Compliance with Public Law 114-95, Section 1112(e)(1)(A)(i)-(ii) and Section 1112(e)(1)(B)(ii):
5th Grade CogAT TESTING
The CogAT test gives teachers and parents a snapshot of students’ higher level thinking, reasoning, and problem solving abilities (verbal, nonverbal, quantitative, and overall ability), as compared to other fifth graders in the nation. It is a local assessment and is not needed for promotion to 6th grade.
Please be sure your fifth grader has a good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast on this day. Please encourage your child with a hug, a reminder to listen carefully the first time, and to do their “Personal Best” on the test.

Frisco ISD invites parents of any age student to join us as we hear from William Floyd, Board Member of the North Texas Chapter of American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Join us for this impactful discussion about mental health in our children and adolescents. The event will be offered in person and virtually, as well!

September’s Character Trait: PURPOSE
Why does PURPOSE matter?
Having a purpose is good for both you and the world. It drives you to make positive
contributions in line with your own interests and strengths. And this pursuit gives your life direction and forward momentum; it motivates and guides your short-term goals and daily activities. With a strong sense of purpose, you flourish, you enjoy a more meaningful life, are healthier and more resilient to setbacks, live more energetically, and feel good about what you’ve accomplished.
How can I encourage PURPOSE in my child?
Model it. Engage in activities that connect to your own purpose, such as meaningful work, volunteering, or creating art—and invite young people to participate with you. Talk about your goals and why they are important to you: “I volunteer at the library because I think everyone should have free access to books and information."
Celebrate it. Praise and support actions that serve a larger purpose: “I love that you participated in the local cleanup day— picking up litter makes the town better for everyone.” Point out connections between activities and long-term goals: “It makes sense that you’ve joined the Girls Who Code club at school, since you’ve always been interested in computers and can now help teach younger kids.
Enable it. Encourage young people to talk about their values and the kind of person they want to be. What do they want to contribute to the world? Notice sparks of potential purpose in children’s interests and guide them toward opportunities to engage with them in meaningful and productive ways, such as volunteering or joining a club. No matter their age, children can be helpful to others.

---Rogers PTA Information---
Contribute to the Rogers PTA!
Joining the Rogers PTA is the best way you can financially support some extra special events and programs offered to the students throughout the year, including class parties, field day, house shirts, ninja run, diverse abilities day and staff appreciation just to name a few! Paying PTA membership dues helps support these things but does not mean you are required to volunteer. There are many opportunities to volunteer throughout the year if you are available, and as a member of the PTA you will be the first to hear about them. We hope you will join us as we support our students and teachers with an extraordinary 2022-23 school year!
