Powers Elementary-Weekly Newsletter

March 17-21
Hi Powers Families...
We know that teacher days off impact our school community. We wanted you to know how grateful we are to be a part of such a supportive school community. Our time on Friday was immensely productive and valuable for our staff to reflect on both math and literacy instruction and plan for the coming 2025-26 school year.

Toys and Cards Have Become a Distraction @ Powers
It has come time for the Ducks and Pokemon Cards to Return Home
Students are going to be instructed this week to bring Ducks and Pokemon cards home. Beginning this coming week we will begin treating them like all other toys that are brought to school. Quite simply, they have become a distraction to learning and are causing more harm than good. We know the kids love them. We also know that many were brought to school to be a part of indoor recess entertainment. Sadly, as of late, they have become the source of theft, conflict between students, and they have been sold for Comet Cash and even real cash that was intended ot be brought to school for lunch money. There will be some grace as we transition but please encourage your child to bring them home. If they are in a recess bag and kept in a backpack, we cannot ensure their protection but won't actively try to find them but discourage their presence and if seen outside of recess time students will be asked to return them to their home at the end of the day. Thanks for your help.
