Hello Glennwood Families,

What a difference a week makes! I think we can all agree that we’ve experienced the full "Georgia weather" spectrum lately. After getting a real taste of winter with last week's icy temperatures, I am so happy to see that it looks like spring-like weather is right around the corner. It’s been wonderful to see our Eagles out on the playground soaking up those hints of sunshine!

We Did It! Goal Met!

I have some absolutely incredible news to share regarding our GaDOE School Climate Survey. I am thrilled to announce that WE DID IT! Thanks to your amazing support and a final surge of participation, we have officially surpassed our 80% goal and are currently sitting at 82% completion! A huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone who took the time to ensure your voice was heard. Your input is invaluable as we make decisions to support our students and our school community. We truly appreciate your partnership and the way the "Glennwood Crew" always steps up to hit a target.

While we’ve hit our goal, we certainly don't have to stop there! If you haven't had a chance to complete the survey yet, the link is still active and we would love to hear from you. The more voices we include, the better we can serve our students. Let’s see just how high we can get that percentage!

Complete the GaDOE Climate Survey Here

Thank you for everything you do to make Glennwood such a special place to learn and grow. Let’s keep this positive momentum going!

In partnership,

Bill Howard

What's Happening in Spanish?

In Kindergarten, we have been learning the names of winter clothing. Our class project was to draw and label clothes on Froggy, after reading the book Froggy Gets Dressed in Spanish.

In first grade, we have been learning the names of places and helpers in our community (firefighters, doctors, etc). The students were able to talk about what they want to be when they grow up, and what is their favorite place in their community.

For second grade, this is our food unit. We have been discussing our favorite fruits, vegetables, grains and dairy products.

We need your help to recognize and celebrate our wonderful bus drivers, who safely get our kids to and from school every day, regardless of weather or how much traffic is on our streets. Often these drivers work double duty…getting students to events and field trips in between their morning and afternoon routes! The PTA is sponsoring a gift for our two wonderful drivers here at Glennwood, Ms. Hill & Ms. Brooks, as well as our stellar bus monitor, Ms. Marie. But, it would be wonderful if you could have your children bring in their own notes and cards of kindness for their bus drivers/monitors and deliver them personally. And, remind your children to greet and thank their driver this month, and every day! Let’s show our bus drivers how much the Glennwood community truly loves them! Questions? Email Amanda McMillan at srts@glennwoodespta.com.

Zara's Fund Mascot Art Contest - We're creating a t-shirt that includes each CSD school's mascot and will be selling them at the CSD Art Show March 31-April 2 as a fundraiser for Zara's Fund, DEF's arts fund (so that we can support more arts programming in all of our schools!). Students should submit their designs to their art teachers by Feb. 6th.

Tour deCatur - March 14th - Sign up here! This year we're partnering with our Decatur Bulldog Booster friends and are offering a "Bulldog Jog" option for anyone who'd like to run with their dog (while the Boosters' Run With the Dogs 5k is on "paws"). Also new this year, you'll see an option to join a team. (This is a participation competition - not a fundraising one.) The school with the largest percentage of participation will receive a trophy, a grant from DEF, and bragging rights!
