From the Principal's Desk

Dear Salt Creek Families,

It is hard to believe how quickly October has flown by. It seems like we were just welcoming everyone back to school, and now we are already getting ready to turn the calendar to November. October has been filled with so many wonderful activities, celebrations, and opportunities to come together as a school community. It has been great seeing our Little Vikings enjoying all of the fun that comes with this time of year.

With November right around the corner, we are definitely starting to feel those colder temperatures. Please make sure your child is coming to school dressed appropriately for the weather. We will continue to take students outside for recess whenever the weather allows, so having a warm coat, sweatshirt, or jacket is important. As the temperatures continue to drop, hats and gloves will also become necessary. Please remember to label your child's belongings whenever possible so we can help keep track of everything.

I also want to send a Huge thank you to all of our parents, families, and volunteers who helped make our Halloween classroom parties such a success! It was wonderful seeing our students dressed up in their costumes, smiling, laughing, and having such a great time with their classmates. We truly appreciate everyone who donated supplies, helped organize activities, or volunteered their time to make the day special for our students. These celebrations would not be possible without the incredible support of our Salt Creek families and staff.

As we look ahead to November, I also wanted to let everyone know that parent-teacher conference sign-ups will be going out shortly. These conferences are a wonderful opportunity for families and teachers to connect, celebrate student growth, and discuss how we can continue working together to support each child's success. Please keep an eye out for more information from your child's teacher in the coming days.
We look forward to connecting with all of our families.

Finally, as we head into Halloween weekend, I want to wish all of our Salt Creek students, families, and friends a very happy and safe Halloween. Whether you are heading out trick-or-treating, spending time with family and friends, or simply enjoying the weekend, I hope everyone has a wonderful time making memories together.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership. We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful school community, and I look forward to all the great things November will bring.

Happy Halloween, Little Vikings!

Please consider sending in an extra set of clothes for your student to keep in their locker. Spills, muddy puddles, wet weather, and other unexpected mishaps can happen at any age! Having a change of clothes available helps students stay comfortable and get back to learning with confidence. Thank you for helping us be prepared for the unexpected!

Overdue Breakfast/ Lunch Balances

Don't forget to check and pay any overdue lunch balances. You can check balances and pay on your parent Skyward account. You can also send cash or check payment to school with your child in a marked envelope with name and what payment is for. The office will then account for the cash or check payment on your student's Skyward.

Bus Information Bus Information

First Student

Please be advised that there are times when our buses are running late. First Student will notify us of any time delays so we can notify parents of the status. Sometimes a situation can happen when the school office is closed. School office hours are from 7:15 am to 3:15 pm. In this case, you may contact First Student at 630-279-2720. Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd-grade students must have a parent or other adult meet them at the bus stop every day after school.

Standard Response Protocol

Salt Creek District 48 has adopted an emergency protocol response from the I Love U Guys Foundation. This is a program that has been adopted by many of the schools within DuPage County. Over the summer, the administrative team attended training on the protocol and is passing along the training to all staff. We also want to make families aware of the five different protocols so you can be familiar with the language you may hear your child or the school use.

In your parent portal in skyward, click on the fee payment tile, then in the far right hand top corner click on the "make online payments" button. This will take you to Revtrak. Make sure to sign up before you try to make payment. Once you can sign in, click the Make a Payment button in the middle of the page. This new service will streamline the payments so you can make a payment or set up recurring payments. This is directly connected to Skyward so you see the money immediately go to your child's account. If you have any questions please email or call your school office.

Preschool Payments: Once in Revtrak you will see in the upper right area an arrow next to SHOP. Click the arrow and pick Preschool in order for you to complete your payment. If you have any questions please email or call the Salt Creek school office.
