This spring the new Georgia Milestones Assessment System will replace the Criterion Referenced Competency Test (CRCT). Students in grades 6, 7, 8, 9, and 11 will take the assessments for ELA.

  • The tests will be given in three sections.
  • The test will consist of selected response (multiple choice), constructed response (short composition using evidence from the text), and extended response (full essay).

  • Students may have up to 70 minutes, per section, to complete Sections 1 and 2.
  • Students will be given a maximum of 90 minutes to complete Section 3, which includes the extended writing response.
  • The total estimated testing time for the American Literature and Composition EOC (11th grade) ranges from approximately 190 to 230 minutes.
