🎙️Message from our Principal, Dr. Nicole Irish
Greetings, LMS Families!
Thank you to all of our Mustangs for another wonderful week of teaching, learning, and growth! As we continue to enjoy the weekend, our school community remains reflective of the significance that 9/11 holds for our nation and the world. Please continue to honor the legacy of those who were lost by focusing on unity, respect for others, and by finding ways to serve within our community.
We want to send a big congratulations to our Girls Volleyball team for an incredible, successful season! We are so proud of how well these athletes represented LMS both on and off the court. A special shout-out to our 8th-grade players who completed their final volleyball season in middle school! We are very proud of all of the players who represented Lilburn so well, and their families, coaches, and other LMS staff who are so supportive of the volleyball team.
Looking ahead, please note that Friday, September 18 is a Digital Learning Day. Students will learn from home and should check their teachers' Google pages for guidance and to complete their assigned course work for the day.
Please read on for more information about what’s happening at LMS this week:
Celebrating Our Arts & Culture
Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 – October 15)
On Tuesday, we kick off our celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month! Throughout the next four weeks, our students, staff, and school community will highlight the inspiring contributions, culture, and achievements of Hispanic and Latino individuals past and present. Most importantly, we look forward to honoring the rich history and vibrant stories represented within our very own Lilburn family. Keep an eye out for special announcements and activities, and we hope you will join in the festivities with us all month long! Mark your calendar for our Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration on Thursday, September 24, 5:30 p.m.
National Arts in Education Week (September 13–19)

SAT Word of the Week
Help your student build their vocabulary by reviewing our SAT Word of the Week at home!
This week’s word is garrulous, an adjective meaning very talkative.
Example: “The garrulous student kept telling stories long after everyone else was ready to begin the assignment.”
Ask your student to use garrulous in a conversation or in their writing this week to help make the word stick.
Tips for Families
A few quick ideas for supporting your middle schooler at home this week:
Make attendance a priority. Remind your student that attending and participating in every class helps keep them on track academically and opens doors to future opportunities.
Stay connected to your student’s learning. Know what classes your student is taking, ask about their progress, and stay involved in school activities. Family support can make a real difference in student success.
Encourage your student to ask for help. If your student is struggling with something, encourage them to contact the teacher, ask questions, or request another explanation or resource.
Supporting Students with Morning School Resistance
Some students experience anxiety, stress, or reluctance about coming to school, especially in the morning. These family tips offer practical ideas for establishing routines, talking with your child, identifying what may be contributing to the resistance, and helping make the transition from home to school more positive.
If your student is having ongoing difficulty attending school, please reach out to us so we can work together to provide support.
