🌟 Exploring Your Future Through Michigan’s Six Career Pathways
At Belleville High School, we help students connect their interests, strengths, and goals to opportunities beyond high school. One way we do this is through Michigan’s Six Career Zones, which provide a framework for students to explore a wide variety of careers and discover pathways that may be a good fit for them.
Our six career pathways are:
- 🎨 Arts & Communications
- đź’Ľ Business, Management, Marketing & Technology
- ⚙️ Engineering, Manufacturing & Industrial Technology
- ❤️ Health Sciences
- 🤝 Human Services
- 🌱 Natural Resources & Agriscience
Students have opportunities to explore these areas through coursework, career exploration, Career and Technical Education (CTE), work-based learning, guest speakers, career events, and postsecondary planning. These experiences help students see how what they are learning today can connect to careers, college, training, and other opportunities after graduation.
The goal isn't for every student to have their entire future figured out—it’s to help every student discover possibilities, explore their interests, and develop a plan for their next steps. This aligns with Michigan’s Career Development Model, which encourages intentional career awareness, exploration, and preparation for all students.
⚙️November Pathway Spotlight: Health Sciences
What's Happening This Month:
Exploring the Health Science Pathway
Are you interested in helping others and making a difference in people's lives? The Health Science pathway introduces students to exciting careers in healthcare, medicine, and wellness. From nursing and medical assisting to physical therapy and mental health services, students can explore a variety of opportunities that align with their interests and strengths. This pathway is a great starting point for students who want to discover how their skills and passions can lead to a rewarding career in the growing healthcare field!
🗓️ Career Panel (Nov. 4th):To kick off the month, students who selected this pathway as their top interest are invited to our Career Panel on October 4th to meet and learn from local industry professionals.
đź’» Xello Exploration: Exploring Skills, Interests, and Experiences
Our students are working on their EDP (Educational Development Plan) Choice Boards, reflecting on their experiences in education, volunteering, employment, and everyday life. Through these activities, students are identifying three personal skills and three interests to help them better understand their strengths, explore potential career pathways, and make informed decisions about their futures. These reflections encourage students to connect their experiences and interests to future educational and career opportunities as they begin planning their next steps beyond high school.
