Good Morning,

Happy Spring!

Students will enjoy one more week of learning all about the Earth and Sky. Stories read in class include: Daytime Nighttime , What Happens when day Turns to Night, Night Shift Daddy, A Tree for All Seasons, and How Can We Take Care of our Earth, to name a few. Camping has been the play theme of the month and students are having fun learning all about how to cook over the campfire, set up a tent and gaze at the stars during the night.

Students that attend non WPS Afterschool programs:

If your child is transported to an afterschool program by the WPS vans, please notify the school office or your child’s teacher if the program is closed for the day and you plan to pick up your child. We need to ensure we have accurate records of which students take the van on these particular days. Parents/guardians will be responsible for picking up their students when the afterschool program is closed.

Parking:

Please do not park behind the school building as that road way if for our vans and maintenance staff. Families can park in the front of the Abigail Adams building and the parking lot off to the left.

We appreciate your cooperation.

Parent Teacher Conferences are upcoming on April 1 and 2. Families will receive a letter via email from your child's teacher this week with more information. If you have trouble registering for conferences, you can always call the WECC school office at 781-335-0191.

On Tuesday, 4/1, there will be a half day for all WECC students to accommodate the afternoon conference schedule. Tuesday's conferences are virtual via Google Meet from 11:45-2:30 and Wednesday night's conferences, 4/2 are in person from 5:00-8:00 p.m.

Picture Day:

About this Series

The Backpack Connection Series was created by TACSEI to provide a way for teachers and parents/caregivers to work together to help young children develop social emotional skills and reduce challenging behavior.

Each Backpack Connection handout provides information that helps parents stay informed about what their child is learning at school and specific ideas on how to use the strategy or skill at home

I'm a Super Reader

Help us reach our goal of 10,000 books

One of the most important gifts we can give our children is to help them learn to read and write so that they can succeed in school and beyond. Confident, active readers are able to use their reading skills to follow their passions and curiosity about the world. We all read for a purpose: to be entertained, to take a journey of the imagination, to connect with others, to figure out how to do something, and to learn about history, science, the arts, and everything else.

We hope to foster the love of reading in our students. Please help us by helping your child read each day. Attached is a reading chart that your child can color each time they read a book. Bring the reading chart to school once all apples are colored and your child will receive a Super Reader sticker. You may choose to only read 10 books per month or submit as many reading charts as you want. We will be keeping track by classroom. If JECC students reach the goal of 10,000 books, we will have a Bubble party at the end of the year.

Help our students reach their goal!
