Green Meadow Playground Reminder
Please remember that our school playground must remain closed during arrival and dismissal times each day to ensure student safety.
We have four buses and four vans that need to safely enter and exit the bus circle. When families use the playground during these times, other students often run over to join them, sometimes into the path of buses or vans. During dismissal, our staff’s full attention is on making sure all students are safely dismissed, so we ask that parents and guardians closely supervise children who have already been dismissed.
If you would like to enjoy some outdoor play after school, the Fowler School playground is available for families to use.
Thank you for helping us keep all students safe!
International Walk to School Day
Thank you to everyone who participated in International Walk to School Day! The weather on Thursday was beautiful and we had a great turnout. This event was sponsored by the Maynard Public Schools, the Maynard Police Department, and the Maynard Fire Department in collaboration with Massachusetts Safe Routes to Schools.
Green Meadow School Family Travel Survey
How do the Green Meadow School's 457 students arrive and depart school? To improve safety for all, we would like to better understand our student transportation choices. Please complete this two-minute, anonymous MA Safe Routes to School Family Travel Survey and if half our school's families participate, Green Meadow will be awarded a safety incentive package from the state. The survey will be open until October 22. You can access it by clicking the link below, then choose your language and school. Thank you in advance for your participation!

Fire Safety
We are very grateful to the Maynard Fire Department for their work over the past two weeks in recognition of Fire Safety Month. Members of the department visited each of our classrooms, from preschool through Grade 3, and presented developmentally appropriate lessons on fire safety.
Our younger students had the opportunity to see firefighters dressed in full gear; including helmets, oxygen masks, and tanks; which helps them understand that there is a person underneath all that equipment. Our older students learned how to make a 911 call and practiced describing an emergency scene using clear, helpful details for responders.
This is a great time of year to review with your children how you would leave your home in the event of a fire and where your family meeting area would be.
We are Hiring!
We are hiring Special Education Paraprofessionals to work with our educational team. In this role, applicants may support one to four students across school settings with academic skills, social skills, transitions, and school access. Special Education Paraprofessionals are part of a team of educators that include general education teachers, special education teachers, service providers, and other paraprofessionals. This is a great full-time opportunity for anyone in a graduate program looking to gain experience before moving into an educational role after graduation. Interested applicants should email Kate Murray at kmurray@maynard.k12.ma.us.
Looking for temporary work? We are hiring a Kindergarten Paraprofessional Long-term Substitute to work in one of our classrooms from 10/27 - 1/16. Please email Karen Lindquist at klindquist@maynard.k12.ma.us.
The Maynard Public Schools anticipates hiring Daily Substitutes for the 2025-2026 school year. This role provides flexibility. Daily Substitutes can determine which days, which grade-levels, and which of the three schools they would like to work in. For more information, please email Kate Murray, kmurray@maynard.k12.ma.us, or Colleen Andrade, candrade@maynard.k12.ma.us.
