Successful Season Continues for Arrows Baseball Successful Season Continues for Arrows Baseball

The Sullivan Arrows continue to build momentum with an 8-0 shutout over Bloomfield, highlighted by a no-hitter from Ty Hamilton. The powerful right-hander was nearly untouchable, striking out 15 and allowing just three base runners—all in the form of a bunt-induced throwing error and a pair of walks. The win improves Sullivan’s season record to 13-2.

Carter Mischler provided early offensive support with a two-run single in the second inning, part of a five-run outburst that included a sacrifice fly from Jaden Norris and RBI singles from Hunter Mason and Spencer Hanks. Mason led the offense with three hits and three RBI, while Hamilton crossed the plate twice.

The win followed a 13-2 rout of South Putnam the night before, where both Mason and Hamilton launched home runs and tallied three hits apiece. Mason led with five RBI, and Mischler contributed two hits and two runs from the leadoff spot. Jaxon Zollman and Davis Martindale each added a double, while Norris pitched a complete game, striking out 10 and allowing just five hits.

The Arrows continue to show strength both on the mound and at the plate as they head into the second half of the season.

Lady Arrows Top Terre Haute North in Impressive Home Victory Lady Arrows Top Terre Haute North in Impressive Home Victory

The Sullivan girls’ tennis team delivered another strong performance with a 4-1 win over Terre Haute North on May 6, 2025, at home. The victory improves the Lady Arrows’ season record to 11-2. Sullivan will continue its busy week with back-to-back matches: hosting Edgewood at 5:30 p.m. on May 7 and traveling to Parke Heritage for a 5:30 p.m. match on May 8.

Match Results vs. Terre Haute North:

Singles
#1 Ally McKinney (S) def. Shelby Cesinger (N), 6-0, 6-0
#2 Mercedes Ferree (S) def. Haddie Parks (N), 6-0, 6-0
#3 Izzie Jenkins (S) def. Emma Wineinger (N), 6-4, 4-6, 6-3

Doubles
#1 Rigley Irby/Ella Tapy (N) def. Jacie Wilson/Emma Couch (S), 6-2, 6-1
#2 Cabela Golish/Isabelle Harris (S) def. Audrey Lee/Harper Klingerman (N), 6-4, 6-2

In junior varsity play, Terre Haute North prevailed 8-1. Sullivan’s lone JV win came from Bea Ferrario and Delaney Rice, who earned a doubles victory in a hard-fought tiebreaker.

Coach’s Comments:
“This was a great win for our team,” said Head Coach. Wes Kirk. “North has a deep, year-round program and a long-standing tradition of success, so I’m proud of how our players stepped up without being intimidated. Their school may be four times the size of ours, but today, we had the bigger match score.

We focused on starting strong, a strategy often emphasized by former Sullivan coach Curt Howard. Winning four of our five first sets really set the tone. Ally and Mercedes were sharp on both offense and defense. Our No. 2 doubles pair, Isabelle and Cabela, gave us the critical third point and have grown so much this season. Coach Mike Lueking said it was one of their best matches yet.

Izzie’s three-set win at No. 3 singles was especially impressive. Her opponent was a consistent, athletic freshman with dangerous shots, but Izzie solved every challenge and showed her determination. Her growth and competitive spirit are exciting to see.”
