Movie Night: JOIN or DIE
Time: 8pm (doors open at 7:30pm)
Join Us for a Special Screening of "Join or Die"
In a world of fractured connections and endless scrolling, how we truly come together matters more than ever.
"Join or Die" dives into the hidden forces that build — or break — communities, and why belonging isn’t just a nice idea... it’s survival. From bowling leagues to digital tribes, the ways we organize ourselves are shifting fast in the age of social media and societal flux.
Come watch, reflect, and discuss what it means to show up for each other today — and why the future depends on it.
Let’s reimagine connection together.
Movie goes for an hour and a half, we'll have time to discuss afterwards!
We may do a book club around the related book by Robert Putnam: The Upswing: How America Came Together a Century Ago and How We Can Do It Again

Meditative Soundscape Journey with Brian Eubanks and Christine Maila
When: Saturday May 10th
Time: 5pm
Sliding Scale: $15- 25
Venmo @GlowHouse
Sabda Mauna is a musical collaboration between Brian Eubanks and Christine Maila. The name comes from Sanskrit, meaning "silence of sound". It refers to the practice of intentionally refraining from speaking, a key aspect of mauna, which is a deeper state of silence involving the quieting of the mind and the development of inner stillness.
Brian and Christine will be taking us on a meditative soundscape journey, with crystal and metal singing bowls, vocals, and other various types of instruments. The sound journey tells a story with the listener as the main character, sometimes without even saying a word. Silence is an especially important part of the introspective path, and here it can be considered as yet another instrument for playing and sharing with others in the soundscape. Christine will improvise on sitar, to create a uniquely blended collaborative experience that will further deepen your journey.

Circling for Experienced Practitioners: All About your Mother
When: Tuesday, May 20th
Time: 7pm (doors open 6:45pm)
Tickets are $15
Reserve yours by venmoing @rebeccahassell
The goal of Circling is for a group of people to see the world through your eyes, and for you to see the world through other people’s eyes. We flourish under the influence of caring, curious, and non-judgmental attention – and so does the connection between us.
In honor of Mother’s and Father’s Day, we are trying out two themed circles for our experienced group: one about our mothers (5/20), and one about our fathers (6/10). Our parents are most influential people in our lives – for better or for worse. Attendees will create a space where we can explore our relationships with and memories of them using a mix of partnered witnessing activities and birthday circles.
Join us for this experiment. We will return to regular freestyle circles in July.
If you're not sure if you belong in this session, please reach out to Rebo before purchasing a ticket. All-levels circling session -- including first-timers -- are also scheduled on Wednesday, May 28; Monday, June 23; and Monday, July 28.
If money is tight, please reach out for pay-what-you-can options.

IFS-Informed Authentic Relating: Intimate Relationships
When: Saturday, May 17
Time: 3pm to 6pm
Register here:
In this IFS-informed Authentic Relating workshop, Terry Baranski will provide a brief overview of Internal Family Systems (IFS), which is a revolutionary way of looking at the mind - as consisting of parts, rather than being a single thing - and getting to know ourselves in a deep/authentic way. We'll then split up into rotating pairs for various IFS-informed Authentic Relating exercises, which will focus on intimate relationships. These exercises will enable us to deeply relate to each other in a parts-aware way - by speaking to each other about, from, and for our various parts, and allowing our parts to be truly heard and witnessed by another.
Note: Both singles and couples are welcome. Couples won't be paired together for the exercises.
This location is metro accessible, and street parking is available. Seating is a mixture of couches and floor space - yoga mats are available for those on the floor.
Doors open at 2:45. Please give yourself extra time for DC-area commuting - we'd like to start the event promptly at 3:00. Allergy Note: There is a cat in the house.
About your Facilitator:
Terry Baranski is an Internal Family Systems practitioner who works 1-on-1, and in groups, with people all over the world to address their mental health challenges. IFS is an approach to therapy and self-growth which offers a unique perspective on the mind - one that opens the door to self-compassion and self-understanding rather than judgment and shame. It's a wonderful technique to help us get in touch with our true selves, see the big picture, and get to know our minds in a more intimate way.

Circling with Rebo (All Levels): Shame
When: Wednesday May 28th
Time: 7pm (Doors open at 6:45pm)
Tickets are $15
Reserve yours by venmoing @rebeccahassell
The goal of Circling is for a group of people to see the world through your eyes, and for you to see the world through other people’s eyes. We flourish under the influence of caring, curious, and non-judgmental attention – and so does the connection between us.
According to some theories, all feelings can be broken down into four root emotions. These are anger, sadness, fear, and joy. In a bonus session, we're going to explore shame. Shame is a complex stew of fear, sadness, and anger, and it can feel paralyzing. It can easily boomerang us back into feelings from when we were children – and had fewer emotional tools and limited understanding of the world at large.
Can shame ever deliver a message of value, or should we vanquish it like a fire-breathing dragon? Let’s talk about where shame lives in our bodies and what we experience when we feel shame – or think we should by don’t. Courage and resilience live on the other side!
If money is tight, please contact me for pay-what-you-can options.

Explore how to deepen alignment between ourselves and others. Through guided interactions and demos/breakout of skills practice, participants will learn to cultivate peace and connection by identifying feelings and needs through the practice of resonance. Resonance is the process of receiving feedback that someone understands us. It refers to the process of attuning to and harmonizing with both our body sensations as well as the energies of those surrounding us. By practicing attunement, participants will enhance their ability to listen attentively to reduce conflict and the judgmental voice. The active discipline of resonance attempts to enable compassionate connection to promote trust, safety and healing. It fosters empathy and improves communication. It is the growth culture for the neurons that most sustain and nourish us. Resonance creates peace, ease and connection. The series highlights the importance of accompaniment, making it easier to regulate emotion. Both resonance and accompaniment change our brains, fostering a sense of trust while enhancing relationships and supporting the transformation of attachment styles. This immersive series enables participants to tune into one's inner landscape while engaging with others. Participants will work with feelings and needs, circuits of emotion to improve relationships, change attachment styles and heal trauma. The formation of traumatic memory happens when we feel alone. Accompaniment starts to happen when one person consents to let another travel with them, emotionally or physically, for more than one resonant exchange, ultimately fostering a sense of well-being.
About your Facilitator:
Christine Maila is a certified Resonant Healing Practitioner. She offers resonant accompaniment. Christine is also trained in NVC, works with clients worldwide, and is fluent in English, French and Spanish.
