We made it through our first week back, and the start of a new semester is a great opportunity for a fresh start. This is a time for students to recommit to being at school every day, arriving on time, following school and classroom expectations, and completing all assignments on time. As a school, we will be working closely with students to build strong habits around responsibility and timely work completion.

Report cards were sent home last week. If your student received a failing grade, you will receive additional communication outlining the options available for credit recovery. We have also implemented a more clearly defined tardy policy to help reinforce the importance of being on time to class. Please take a moment to review the tardy information below and discuss it with your student. Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we begin the semester strong.

After school tutoring will resume next week January 19 on Mondays and Wednesday from3:45-5:00.

TARDY POLICY TARDY POLICY

Being on time to class is essential for student learning and responsibility. Tardies are tracked consistently throughout the semester.

  • 1–2 tardies, students receive a reminder in class.
  • 3rd tardy results in a classroom consequence set by the teacher.
  • 4th tardy, students are assigned a lunch detention,. Parents will be notified by the teacher.
Continued tardies will result in a parent meeting to create a plan to help the student get to class on time. Parents, this includes mornings. The first bell rings at 7:45 and the tardy bell rings at 7:50. Students who arrive after 7:50 will be marked tardy. If you are dropping your student off, please make sure they are dropped off in a timely manner that allows them to get to their classroom by 7:50. Thank you for helping reinforce the importance of arriving to class on time.

Regular attendance is critical to student success. As a reminder, students who miss more than 10% of class time in a semester (7 days) may be denied credit for that class—even if they are passing. Every day matters, and consistent attendance helps students stay on track academically and socially. Please help your student prioritize being at school each day and arriving on time so they can fully benefit from instruction and learning opportunities.
