Greetings

This Thursday, we will have a STEM Day family event on Thursday April 28 from 4-5pm.

This will be a wonderful time for you and your child(ren) to build, explore and create!

Our students will all get to experience an on-site Field Trip with Cape Fear Museum visiting Howe PreK and sharing a Fossil Exhibit! Classrooms will attend either Wednesday 04/27 or Thursday 04/28. Get ready to have fun-filled conversations with your child(ren)!

The first week of May is traditionally Teacher and Educator Appreciation Week, May 2-6.

Feel free to create a kind note to share with their teachers during this week.

Reminder-Kindergarten Enrollment is still Open! You are expected to enroll at your district Kindergarten (and if interested in applying to some of our district choice schools or year-round schools, that can be done after completing the online district enrollment)

Friday May 13 will be our Off To Kindergarten learning opportunity for parents. This will be made available at both 8:00am and 1:00pm. Staff will share information about this transition for your child(ren) and suggestions and opportunities for summer practice as well. If you would like to plan to attend, please select a time below

Transportation

*If you are in need of bus transportation and your child is not currently scheduled with a stop and time. Please contact the front office.

*Please reach out to your child(ren)'s teacher if you are in need of a car pass to continue to help our PM carline run smoothly.

*Please know that we will continue to require written change of transportation for students. We cannot accept transportation changes by phone for safety purposes.

Attendance

Thank you for working so hard with us to have your child at school before 7:45am and for keeping them in school until dismissal at 1:45pm.

There will always be the occasional appointment-but the benefit to your child keeping this routine allows them to stay involved and connected with all learning all activities that will take place in their classrooms from the morning late bell at 7:45am until the afternoon dismissal bell at 1:45pm.

*We will begin to have fun-monthly raffles for family prizes in relation to student attendance! As stated earlier, 5 months will go quickly! We will utilize every moment your child is in school with us to keep their learning strong! Thank you for your dedication and collaboration with this important aspect of school!

Volunteers/Adult Visits on Campus

Families-as we get acclimated to this school year and the needs of our staff and students, we hope to have volunteers and visits on campus. Thank you for being patient with us as we focus our attention on the needs of the children first as they transition to our building and staff.

As you know, we will only share information with you as your child's guardian/parent-please share with grandparents and/or other loved ones of your child that we appreciate them greatly-but that we will not have visits on campus just yet.

The below link is the NHCS Volunteer Training Level 1 and the form linked is a mini quiz to show evidence that you have reviewed this mandatory material before volunteering on campus with us when we do start having more adults on campus with us.
