News & Notes from the Principal
Happy Friday DKMS families! It was another great week in the middle school!
I would like to give a huge shout out to Sara Knight and Margaret Martin for their work putting together our Veterans Day Tribute. It is a wonderful way for us to show our appreciation to our Delton Veterans and to bring us all together as a community. To our Veterans, thank you for your service!
First Quarter grades were finalized this afternoon. Information will be sent out to you via email next week on how you can access your child's progress report on PowerSchool Parent Portal. We will email you an actual report card in January after we've completed the first semester. This is a change in what we have done in the past. If you have questions on how to set up a parent portal account on PowerSchool, please reach out to the middle school office at (269) 623-1540.
As we continue through the year, if you are interested in volunteering in your child's classroom or going on field trips, please make sure you have completed a volunteer form in the middle school office. For safety reasons, we must do criminal background checks on adults who will be around our students. This goes for dropping off items for your child as well. We cannot allow you to go to your child's classroom during the school day if we have not done a criminal background check.
As always, I would like to thank our students, staff, families, and community for their hard work and support. Today's Veterans Day Tribute is another great example of why Delton is such a wonderful community and school district. Have a great weekend!
It's a great day to be a PANTHER!!!
Thank you,

SK2R Stars of the Week

Great job, Panthers! Keep it up, you make DKMS a great place to be! 🐾
Leaves of Gratitude
Amber Martin and her Community Circle students created a “Wall of Thanks” outside her classroom! The students wrote things they are thankful for on colorful paper leaves, and other Community Circle groups have joined in to add even more.
Her wall looks amazing and is a great reminder to pause and be thankful throughout the month of November! 🍂
The Power of Thermal Energy
Mr. Flesher’s 8th grade science students are continuing their hands-on exploration of heat transfer and thermal energy. Through experiments and activities, they’re learning how energy moves and affects the world around them.
Launching Learning at Starbase
This week at Starbase, our 5th graders got to visit Western Michigan University’s School of Aviation. They toured the control tower, learned how planes work, and even got to touch and explore real airplanes up close.
Students also kept working on their snap circuits and bottle rockets and also had a great time heading outside to launch rockets.
Students Connect Through Indoor Activities
As the weather gets colder, not all students choose to spend their recess or free time outdoors. Instead, they’ve been finding fun games to play inside, sometimes with a little help from staff. Whether it’s a card game, the yarn game, or turning Jenga blocks into falling dominoes, students are enjoying their time together, interacting, laughing, and just having fun.
