We already have a whole month of school in and learners are establishing routines, talking and leading in their CRISP traits (Craftsmanship, Respect, Integrity, Stewardship, and Perseverance). Our CRISP wall is filled with Fox Tails of all the amazing ways the learners are displaying their traits in and outside our school building!

One of my favorite parts about being a part of this amazing school and community is the fall colors we are surrounded by here! We are outside exploring, learning, and growing all the time. Different grades are learning everything from shadows, wind, butterfly migration, milkweeds, worm migration, water testing, invasive species, plant and tree identification, and so much more. The learners have absorbed so much learning and knowledge and have learned to explore and appreciate our natural world around us!

We have two date options for Parent Teacher Conferences:

Tuesday, October 17th and Thursday, October 19th from 3:00-7:00.

Maple Grove staff values this time with each family to further discuss each student's individual goals. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact classroom teachers.

In September we got our FIRST EGG from our lovely chickens!! We are very excited the chickens are happy and producing!!! Thank you to our learners for helping in daily chicken responsibilities and for Mrs. Constantine for your support each day with the chickens.

Artastic club has begun! Thank you Mrs. Kohli for your creative ideas for our 3rd-5th graders!

These are the Artastic Club dates:

9/11, 10/9, 12/11, 1/8, 2/12, 3/11, 4/8, 5/13.

*Students are to be picked up at Door 1 at 5:00.

Thank you families for the patience as we begin the year with the pick up system and our newest learners learning the system of their name being called and coming out to greet you at pick up. Please remember if you are in the front of the line you pull up all the way to the end of our building so not as many cars need to sit on the road. Also, it is helpful if you display your yellow name tag on the front windshield in a spot that can easily be read and not tucked too far down into your dash. We are getting better at recognizing families vehicles but still don't have it 100% and every once in awhile someone else picks up or a family uses a different vehicle for pick up. If you need to get out to buckle your child please pull around the building and into the playground to buckle them to continue the line moving smoothly. Thank you for your continued support with this to make it efficient for all families!

Our picture day was held on Monday, September 25th! Picture retakes are schedule for Wednesday, October 25th.

Learners will need to turn in their September Reading logs on Monday. They will then set new goals and should be started on their October reading logs. Those that met their goal will be part of our reading incentive celebration in October - more information to come! Thank you families for supporting the importance of reading at home!

Our first Recess Rodeo was a hit! With the help of staff, students went to 6 different stations to learn about rules and expectations on our outdoor playground. Students were challenged to reflect on how the CRISP traits could be used at these stations while outside at recess.

With the changing weather please make sure you send your child with warm enough clothes to be outside for up to 90 min at a time with our Friday Labs, including mittens and a hat. If you can, please also send them with some rubber boots if they plan to play in the woods or mud as we are starting to track lots of mud inside.

Our next PTO meeting is on Monday, October 9 at 5:00. We will be focusing heavily on the upcoming Fall Family Night Event and could use lots of volunteers! We will also be discussing apparel sales and upcoming fundraisers.

We would love for you to join us and share your ideas and your time for a variety of events. Kids are welcome to come with to the meeting as well. We are still looking for a secretary for our PTO!

We are bringing popcorn Friday's back! Thanks to the Maple Grove Foundation and Mrs. Artus for volunteering one Friday a month to recreate the popcorn tradition for our staff and learners.

All popcorn and supplies are being donated by the Maple Grove Foundation, Inc. Each student and staff member will receive a free bag of popcorn. YUM!
