On Tuesday, October 22nd the junior class went on a field trip to tour the NIACC Career Center in Charles City. This career center includes 4 academies for students to take courses and earn certificates in: IT, Healthcare, Advanced Manufacturing, and Construction. Students were able to try hands-on experiences while visiting this day, including a virtual reality welding program, as well as a nail hammering competition in the construction classroom.
Riceville has 8 seats each year, two in each academy, for interested senior students to fill. These students will have the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school, as well as finish their senior year with certificates from their academy that will help them either further their education upon graduation, or enter the workforce with a certificate in their desired field!
