LISD Families,

This month marks the start of my fourth year as Superintendent of this incredible district, and it continues to be an honor to serve our community. I enjoyed recently seeing all of the ways campuses marked the 100th day of school and visiting the opening night of our LISD High School Art Show.

As we follow developments in the 89th Texas Legislative Session, one of the most pressing issues impacting public education is the ongoing debate over school vouchers and the need for increased state funding. Our district, along with many others across Texas, remains committed to advocating for policies that strengthen public schools and ensure all students have equitable access to a quality education.

While voucher proposals continue to be discussed, our one ask to lawmakers is simple: prioritize funding for public schools so that resources go directly to the students and teachers who need them most. We are closely monitoring legislative actions, and I encourage you to stay informed and involved. You can watch my latest legislative update from Monday’s board meeting HERE, and learn how to advocate for strong public schools at LISD.net/legislative.

Keep reading this month’s newsletter for many more updates. As we navigate the opportunities ahead, please know that your engagement and support make a lasting impact. Thank you for being part of the LISD family. We are stronger together, and I look forward to making the rest of this school year a success!

Lori Rapp, Ed.D.

We will also request a waiver from the TEA for the 21 schools that had to miss school due to the water line break in the City of Lewisville.
