🦊 Show Up, Foxes! Our Attendance Challenge Has Begun!
At Foster Elementary, we know that every school day counts! Regular attendance helps students build strong academic skills, develop friendships, and establish routines that set them up for success. To make showing up even more exciting, we've officially kicked off our Foster Attendance Challenge!
🎉 Class Attendance Parties!
Classes that maintain an attendance rate of 90% or higher over the challenge period will earn a special class party! It's a team effort, and every student who shows up helps their class work toward a celebration!
🎁 Surprise Attendance Rewards!
We're also adding a little mystery and excitement with surprise attendance incentive days! On these unannounced days, students who are present at school will earn a special reward. You never know when a surprise might happen!
🦊 Every Day Makes a Difference!
We understand that illnesses and unexpected circumstances happen, and students should stay home when they're sick. But when students are healthy, arriving on time and attending school every day makes a tremendous difference in their learning.
Thank you, Foster families, for partnering with us to make attendance a priority. Let's work together to keep our Foxes learning, growing, and celebrating success!
Be here. Be ready. Be a Fox! 🦊

Keeping Our Foxes Safe: Understanding Our Emergency Response Protocols
At Foster Elementary, the safety and well-being of our students and staff are always a top priority. One way we prepare for emergencies is by practicing the Standard Response Protocol (SRP), a nationally recognized approach that provides clear, consistent actions for responding to different types of emergencies.
The SRP uses five specific actions:
Hold: Students and staff remain in their classrooms while hallways are kept clear.
Secure: Everyone moves inside the building, and exterior doors are secured when a potential threat exists outside.
Lockdown: Classroom doors are locked, lights are turned off, and students and staff remain out of sight and quiet when a threat may be inside the building.
Evacuate: Students and staff move to a designated safe location.
Shelter: Students and staff take appropriate protective actions in response to hazards such as earthquakes or severe weather.
Upcoming Safety Drill — 12:45 pm on Thursday, November 19
On Thursday, November 19, Foster Elementary will conduct a Secure/Lockdown drill. This practice provides students and staff with an opportunity to review and rehearse our safety procedures in a calm, age-appropriate manner. Please note that no students, staff, or visitors may come into the building or leave the building during the drill. The drill will last approximately 15 minutes, so please plan accordingly.
We recognize that emergency drills can sometimes cause anxiety for children. Our staff will explain the procedures in developmentally appropriate ways, emphasizing that practicing safety routines helps us know what to do if an emergency ever occurs. Just as we practice fire and earthquake drills, practicing our Secure and Lockdown procedures helps everyone feel more prepared.
How Families Can Help: We encourage you to talk with your child about the importance of listening carefully to their teachers and following directions during safety drills. Reassure them that these practices are simply one of the many ways we work together to keep our school safe.
Thank you for partnering with us to maintain a safe, welcoming learning environment for all our Foster Foxes!
November Spirit Day!

🦊 Want to Volunteer at Foster?
We love having families and community members involved at Foster! Whether you’re helping in a classroom, attending a field trip, supporting a special event, or volunteering in another capacity, all volunteers must have a current, approved volunteer application on file each school year.
Volunteer applications are available through the school office. At this busy time of year, please allow 1–2 weeks for processing and approval.
Please plan ahead! Without an approved application, you will not be able to volunteer at school events, field trips, or other activities. Volunteer applications are located in the school office.
Thank you for helping us keep Foster a safe and welcoming place for all of our students!
