In our school-wide and classroom-specific newsletters, we often share images of students participating in exciting science labs or creative art projects. These pictures, along with the accompanying stories, are meant to offer a glimpse into the engaging and enjoyable experiences that take place at JES.
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to observe one of our 5th and 6th grade classrooms, and it was a reminder that students can be deeply engaged in even the more routine aspects of their learning. For example, I watched as Ms. Barrows provided new instruction on how to add details to support a main idea in writing. In the accompanying photo, you can see students attentively seated and focused, even taking notes. While we typically showcase more visually dynamic moments, such as field trips, images like this one highlight the important daily work that supports our students' learning and development. Going forward we plan to continue to send home pictures and stories that offer a full picture of the thoughtful and purposeful work taking place every day at JES.
We are a couple of days in to our new behavior system and I am happy to report we are off to a good start. I am excited to announce that I have hired an experienced behavior specialist to support our students and our systems as we continue to improve the overall climate at the school.
I hope you all have a great weekend.

We Need Your Help
We're excited to announce the launch of the first-ever LEGO Robotics Club at Johnson Elementary School! This innovative program will provide our students with hands-on learning opportunities to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
In order to offer this amazing opportunity, we need some help. Here is a link to our GoFundMe https://gofund.me/7b00cf34
