Upper Darby School District
Welcome to Kindergarten!
Kindergarten Readiness Flyer
Dear Kindergarten Families,
Welcome to Upper Darby School District! This message is being sent to all families who have registered for kindergarten for the 2026-2027 school year. We are excited to welcome you and your child to our district and kindergarten family. Starting kindergarten is an exciting milestone, and we look forward to partnering with you to make this a wonderful first year of school.
To help your child feel confident and ready for their first day, we are sharing our Kindergarten Readiness Skills Flyer. This resource includes fun, simple activities that you can incorporate into your daily routines to help build important early literacy, math, communication, and fine motor skills. The flyer also includes QR codes that link to short videos demonstrating ways to practice these skills at home. The readiness activities focus on skills such as recognizing letters and sounds, counting, reading together, talking and listening, writing their name, identifying shapes, and practicing everyday independence and safety. The flyer is below and also attached.
Please remember that every child develops at their own pace. These activities are meant to make learning enjoyable while helping your child build confidence before the school year begins.
We are honored that your family is joining our school community and cannot wait to meet your child. Additional information about kindergarten and the start of the school year will be shared on August 7th with Superintendent's Summer eLetter Sent to Families. Building Principals will send out the Principals' Back-to-School eLetters Sent to Families on August 17th.
Thank you for partnering with us as we prepare for an amazing kindergarten year. Enjoy the rest of your summer, and welcome to the Upper Darby School District!
Sincerely,
Marc Comfort

The Upper Darby School District welcomes community members and neighbors from the Upper Darby Township, Clifton Heights Borough, and Millbourne Borough to visit our Community Bulletin Board regularly for news and updates regarding events, activities, resources, and supports happening and available in and around the School District community.
