A Note from Dr. Coffman
Second, I want to remind all the parents to please ensure that your child is not bringing toys to school. They are allowed to bring balls to play with at recess, but no other toys. We are focused on learning and providing opportunities for play throughout the day, but the toys are a distraction and cause interruption to their learning. We appreciate your understanding.
Gracias!

- It's very important to study the sight words daily, even on the weekends and Mondays. The next sight word test will include sight words #1-55.

- Our Valentine's day party will be in the afternoon on Tuesday, February 15th. There is no need to make or buy a Valentine's Day box. Each student is making one in Art class. Check ClassDojo for more information. 🙂

4TH GRADE
4th Grade Math--We are continuing in our unit on geometry. The students will be seeing a lot of vocabulary. We have already seen many of these words such as line, point, segment, ray, and plane. We will add to what we already know and will begin identifying and measuring different types of angles. The students are enjoying this unit so far.
4th Grade Science---I think this may be the favorite unit we cover this year. We have been discussing the water cycle and the roles played by both the sun and the ocean in that process. We will continue with this unit as we look into shadows, seasons, moon phases, and ocean tides. The students love to talk about the planets and solar system.
5th Grade Science--We are also talking in depth about the natural cyclical events that occur. We have discussed the day/night cycle, and the effect of the Earth's rotation on shadows. We will dig deeper as we discuss moon phases, tides, and physical characteristics of the sun, Earth, and moon.
Thank you for sharing your child with me,
Mrs. Brown 🙂
Sra. Brown 🙂

5TH GRADE
ELAR:
In ELAR, we are finishing up our unit over Dramatic texts. We have been focusing on the different structures within dramatic texts and how they influence meaning and understanding. We have been working hard to understand the difference between dramatic texts and fictional texts and how they are similar as well.
Social Studies:
In Social Studies, we are focusing on the different Compromises that came before the Civil War and everything that took place before the war began. We will be looking at how the different events influenced the start of the Civil War.
A few reminders:
- New Spelling words come home today! Our spelling test will be next Thursday!
- Our Valentine's Party is next Tuesday, 2/15/22 in the classroom. We sent home a paper with names on it yesterday with your child. Please send one valentine per student on Tuesday.
- Please check with your child for any missing work or corrections they may have from me or any of their classes. Grades are falling because students are not turning in their work.
- Bronco folders were sent home today so please look in there for updates on how your student is doing in class.
- Please be sure to have your child read 20 minutes every night. I want every student who wants to meet their AR goals to meet them. I know they can all do this and want to see them succeed.
As always, if you need anything or have any questions, please reach out to me or to Ms. Gamez.
Thank you!
Mrs. Rasco
Gamez.
¡Gracias!

Math
-We have started measurement conversions and we need all students to be in class. This concept is a little more challenging and we are converting a different standard of measurement each day.
-We have a sent note home for our Valentine's party, but all we will need is for our students to bring a valentine for each student in the Fifth grade. The note has how many students are in the Fifth grade and their names. Mrs. Rasco and I will take care of the refreshments we will have for the party.
-Thank you for all your support. Mrs. Gamez
Gracias por todo su apoyo.
