Updates and Info from Dr. T
Farley Elementary School - February 22, 2026
Next week at Farley
This week, we are excited to host our Spring Book Fair, giving students an opportunity to discover new books and build their love of reading. On Friday, we will also celebrate our teachers with a well-deserved Duty-Free Lunch in appreciation of their hard work and dedication.
Looking ahead, we will celebrate Read Across America Week, March 2–6, with special activities to promote literacy across campus. We are also preparing to welcome our Blue Ribbon Site Visit team on March 11–12, an important milestone for our school community. Finally, please note that Spring Break will be March 16–20. We look forward to a busy and exciting few weeks ahead!
Any parents who are interested in participating in the Blue Ribbon focus group on March 11 are asked to please email Dr. T.
Registration for PreK
Pre-K registration for Farley Elementary is now open! Children must be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2026 to be eligible. We look forward to welcoming our newest learners to the Farley family!
Updates from Nurse Barry
For 5th Grade Parents
Can you believe it is course registration time for middle school?
One of our goals is for every Farley 5th grader to take at least one Honors course in 6th grade — because we know they’re more than ready for the challenge!
And for those future rock stars in the making, Mr. Owens has invited the Challenger band director to campus to help interested students choose their instruments.

Paper Chase is sponsored by Free to Teach which is a great program that helps our teachers get the supplies they need during the school year! There are two race sign up options (one for teachers, staff, and students and one for non-school kids and adults). Register by January 31st for a T-shirt! **Registration ends February 25th**
Not an experienced runner or hate running? NO PROBLEM! This race is all about enjoying time out in downtown Huntsville with family and friends and walking is also allowed! Be sure to include Farley Elementary when picking to "Join a Team" on the registration page. If our school can get the most runners/walkers participating, we could win $1,500 for our library and technology needs!

Greetings families!
We are pleased to announce that our school received an "A" on our Report Card Score. This is the 3rd year in a row that Farley has received an A - this year a 90. Our Report Card score is based on our ACAP results (Grades 3-5) and our percentage of students that maintain excellent attendance.
Attendance
Parents may excuse only 8 days for the entire school year.
Parents - remember that excuse notes must be submitted promptly. The HCS expectation is that within 3 days, a parent or doctor's note is submitted to the school. After 8 excused absences (not individual notes), students must have a doctor's note. A student checked out before 11:30AM is considered absent unless they check back in.

Chronic Absenteeism is defined as a student missing 18 or more days for the school year (or 10% of enrolled days), regardless of reason.
