A Message From Our Superintendent
Dear Westview Families and Community,
There is something special about the beginning of a new school year! The excitement of students returning to our buildings, classrooms coming back to life, fall activities beginning, and the opportunity for all of us to start fresh together. As I begin my first full school year as Superintendent of Westview School Corporation, I am incredibly grateful and excited for all that lies ahead.
We began this year with an intentional focus on joy, happiness, connection, and taking care of the people who take care of our students.
On our opening staff day, we had the privilege of welcoming Kim Strobel as our keynote speaker. Kim challenged our staff to remember that we must first show up for ourselves before we can fully show up for others. Her message was an important reminder that the energy, joy, and care we bring to our work each day matter, not only for ourselves, but for the students and families we serve.
Our educators give so much of themselves to our students, and we want Westview to be a place where our staff members feel valued, supported, and encouraged to find joy in the important work they do. When our adults are thriving, they are better equipped to help our students thrive as well.
We carried that same spirit of intentional growth into the beginning of our athletic year when we welcomed Dr. Amber Selking, nationally recognized mental performance coach, leadership and culture expert, author of Winning the Mental Game, and former Notre Dame soccer player.
Thanks to the generosity of Interra Credit Union, the Keith Lambright family, and the Westview Athletic Department, Dr. Selking spent time with our student-athletes, families, and coaches discussing what it means to develop a championship mindset. She challenged our Warriors to think about confidence, resilience, preparation, attitude, and the mindset we bring to the opportunities and challenges in front of us. Our coaches also participated in an additional session focused on strengthening team culture and helping student-athletes grow both in performance and character.
These two experiences may have looked different, but their messages fit beautifully together.
Find joy. Take care of yourself and others. Build a positive mindset. Be intentional about the culture you create. Show up ready to grow.
Those are lessons that reach far beyond our classrooms, athletic fields, and courts. They represent the kind of environment we want to create throughout Westview.
As we begin the 2026–27 school year, I hope our families and community feel the same excitement that I do. We have so much to celebrate, so much to look forward to, and so many opportunities ahead to work together on behalf of our students.
Thank you to our families for trusting us with your children, to our staff for the incredible work you do each day, and to our community for continuing to support Westview. I am honored to serve alongside you and cannot wait to see what this year brings.
Here’s to a year filled with joy, growth, connection, and plenty of Warrior pride!
It’s a Great Day to Be a Warrior!

Strong Foundations, Outstanding Results
We are incredibly proud to celebrate Westview’s outstanding IREAD and SAT results, with our students scoring among some of the highest in Indiana! These results are a wonderful reflection of the hard work of our students and the dedication of our staff across the entire district.
Success like this does not happen overnight. It begins with strong foundations in our earliest grades and continues as our students grow, learn, and prepare for life beyond Westview. It truly takes an entire team of teachers, instructional assistants, administrators, counselors, support staff, families, and community members working together and believing in our students.
Most importantly, behind every score is a student, and we are incredibly proud of them!
Thank you to our staff, families, and community for continuing to support our commitment to Every Child, Every Day. This is Westview excellence in action!
We are excited to welcome 14 new teachers to the Westview family this year! These talented educators are ready to make a difference, build relationships, and help continue our tradition of excellence.
Commitment to Graduate Assembly
The Class of 2030 recently participated in Westview’s third annual Commitment to Graduate Assembly! Students heard from Jostens about the importance of committing to their education and future before personally pledging to put in the work needed to reach graduation. Each student signed their class banner, which will hang in their hallway throughout high school as a reminder of the promise they made to themselves and their future.
WOW Nominations
I am excited to kick off a new recognition opportunity at Westview called WOW Wednesday—Warrior of Westview!
Many people throughout our schools and community notice how hard you work and the positive difference you make each day. WOW Wednesday will give students, parents, staff, alumni, and community members an opportunity to recognize the outstanding people who make Westview such a special place.
Once a month, I will visit every building to surprise and recognize a staff member who has been nominated by someone in our community. The nomination link will also be included in our monthly community newsletter. Staff members are encouraged to nominate their colleagues as well!
Teachers, bus drivers, custodians, secretaries, cafeteria employees, instructional assistants, administrators, coaches, and all other members of our Westview family are eligible to be recognized.
I look forward to celebrating the incredible people who bring that tradition to life each day.
Do you know a Westview staff member who deserves to be recognized? Please use the link below to share their story and nominate them for WOW Wednesday!
EVERY CHILD, EVERY DAY
Check out this amazing piece of artwork at Westview Elementary! Mrs. Schrock has had students busy putting their hands together to create this beautiful display.
What a wonderful visual reminder of what we believe deeply as educators at Westview: Every student matters. Every student belongs. Every student has something special to contribute.
Each hand is unique, but together they create something pretty amazing, just like our students and staff who make Westview such a special place.
It’s a simple reflection of the commitment we make each day:
Every Child, Every Day.
Supporting Staff Wellness at Westview
Late summer and early fall are also a time when we focus on staff wellness at Westview. Each year, we partner with Parkview’s Wellness Team to provide convenient, on-site opportunities for our employees to complete wellness lab screenings and receive flu shots right here at our schools.
These opportunities are part of our continued effort to support the health and well-being of the people who serve our students each day. Behind the scenes, our Westview Insurance Committee also works diligently to review health insurance options, manage rising healthcare costs, and provide quality benefits for our employees.
Taking care of our staff is one more way we work to keep Westview a healthy, supportive place to learn, work, and grow!
Attendance Updates for the 2026-2027 School Year
As we begin the 2026–2027 school year, Westview School Corporation wants families to be aware of important updates to our attendance protocols. These changes reflect recent Indiana legislation and the state’s increased focus on student attendance and chronic absenteeism.
At Westview, we believe every day of learning matters. Students who attend school regularly are more likely to succeed academically, build strong relationships, remain engaged in learning, and graduate prepared for future opportunities.
We also understand that illnesses, appointments, family emergencies, and other circumstances arise, and students will sometimes need to be absent. Our goal is to support families, not to create additional worry when a necessary absence occurs.
Our updated attendance protocols emphasize early and frequent communication between home and school. Families may receive communication from the school earlier and more often regarding their child’s attendance. This outreach is intended to keep families informed, identify concerns early, and work together to provide support when needed.
Strong communication and partnership between families and schools are essential. When your child must be absent, please notify the school promptly and remain in contact with us regarding any circumstances that may affect regular attendance.
Together, we can help ensure that every Westview student is present, engaged, supported, and ready to learn.
New Bell to Bell Law - Impact on Westview
As we begin the 2026–2027 school year, Westview School Corporation is implementing a new bell-to-bell personal device policy. From the beginning of the school day until dismissal, students’ personal wireless devices must be powered off, stored away, and inaccessible.
This policy applies to cell phones, smartwatches, earbuds, gaming devices, tablets, and other personal communication devices. Families who need to reach their child during the school day should contact the school office.
Exceptions will be permitted only for documented medical, safety, translation, IEP, 504 Plan, or administrator-approved needs. We appreciate the partnership of our students and families as we begin the school year with clear and consistent expectations designed to protect instructional time and help students remain focused and engaged in learning.
Community News
Westview may be made up of multiple schools, but we are one unified community when it comes to supporting our students. Time and time again, our families, staff, and community members come together as one to cheer on, lift up, and invest in our schools. Below are a few upcoming events happening across the district. We invite you to support our schools because when one Warrior succeeds, we all succeed!
Our next Westview School Board meeting will be held on September 10 at 7:00 p.m. at the Westview Administration Building.
We welcome members of our community to attend and stay engaged in the important work happening across our schools. Your partnership and involvement matter, and we are grateful for your continued support of Westview.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library – Honoring Her Legacy Through Literacy
Dream More, Learn More, Care More, Be More is the destination Dolly Parton had in mind for the magical journey of reading when she started Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in 1995. In honor of her memory, Crossroads United Way is more motivated than ever to make sure we continue Dolly’s legacy of literacy through the Imagination Library in Elkhart, LaGrange, Noble, and Steuben Counties.
“We at Crossroads United Way are honored to continue Dolly Parton’s legacy by putting books in the hands of children through our Imagination Library outreach across Northeast Indiana. She was one of a kind and will continue her impact for years to come,” states Bill Purcell, President/CEO of Crossroads United Way.
Over 7,000 children are actively enrolled in the four counties Crossroads United Way serves with over 23,000 children eligible for enrollment. As a local program partner, Crossroads United Way secures funding, enrolls children, promotes, and provides operational support for the program.
Thanks to the support of donors, grants, and businesses there is never a cost to families with children from birth to age 5 who enroll in the program. $35 will sponsor one child for a full year of books.
Community members interested in honoring Dolly Parton’s legacy can learn more and donate by visiting: https://www.crossroadsuw.org/imagination-library or texting DOLLYLEGACY to 41444.
