Wiley Elementary held their monthly Academic Assembly on Thursday, November 6, 2025. We will be hosting one of these assemblies the first Thursday of every month. Parents are welcome to join in and help celebrate our students' achievements. At these assemblies, students will be recognized for making the A Honor Roll, the A-B Honor Roll, and having Perfect Attendance. We also will recognize students that have been nominated for Student of the Month, and draw names from our character trait focus wall. Below are highlights from October's Assembly

Kindergarten- Reaching for the Stars Award Kindergarten- Reaching for the Stars Award

Even though we do not give grades in Kindergarten, we know how important it is to celebrate hard work, effort, and a love of learning. Today, we want to honor some very special students who are always giving their best, showing perseverance, and reaching for the stars in their learning journey. These students remind us that success is not just about answers- it is about trying, growing, and never giving up. We are so proud of them!

October Attendance Traveling Trophy Winner October Attendance Traveling Trophy Winner

Attendance is a priority at Wiley Elementary. We have a school wide challenge going on between each classroom. Our challenge is to see which classroom can have the highest percentage of attendance for the month. The class that has the highest attendance rate for the month gets to display a traveling trophy in their classroom for the month. For the first time in traveling trophy history we had a tie. Congratulations to Mrs. Brase's 2nd grade class and Mrs. McCoy's 4th grade class for having the highest attendance rates for the month of October. Both classes had a 100% attendance rate!

October Student of the Month October Student of the Month

Wiley Elementary Staff continues to recognize one student per grade level each month as our Student of the Month. Below are the students that were selected as Students of the Month. We are very proud of each of these students and are happy to recognize them. Each student's recognition is well deserved.

Kindergarten- Maddux May

This next Student of the Month might surprise you — a quiet leader who has really come out of their shell and shines bright in everything they do! This student is a quiet leader in our classroom — someone who shows what it truly means to be focused, kind, and hardworking. From the moment the day begins, this student is on task, ready to learn, and always following our class expectations. Each day, I see curiosity and determination shining through as new skills are learned and new challenges are met with excitement. This student always gives their very best every single day! You can always count on this student to stay on task, work hard, and try new things with a big smile.

At the beginning of the year, this student was still learning letters and sounds. But now — wow! — this student can read sight words and sound out CVC words like a champ! In math, this student’s enthusiasm is unmatched — always eager to play, participate, and often one of the last standing champions during “Around the World.”

While a bit shy at first, this student has truly come out of their shell. The joy and pride that appears when mastering something new is contagious, inspiring everyone around them. Not only is this student an incredible learner, but also an athlete who keeps me up to date on every sports score and game highlight imaginable!

His smile and sense of humor alone keeps me going throughout the day. Please help me celebrate our October Student of the Month — the dedicated, determined, and kind-hearted Mr. Maddux May! Way to go, Mr. May!!

1st Grade- Kenna Cain

Kenna has truly distinguished herself as an exceptional student and a shining example of hard work, curiosity, and positivity. She consistently earns straight A’s, a reflection of her dedication and love for learning. In class, Kenna is always eager to participate, offering thoughtful insights and high-level answers that show she is thinking critically and creatively—often going above and beyond what’s expected. Her curiosity about the world is inspiring; she frequently contributes fascinating facts and connections that deepen our classroom discussions.

This month, Kenna has also shown tremendous growth in her reading. She’s been working diligently to master her sight words and has embraced new reading strategies that are helping her become a strong and confident reader. Beyond academics, Kenna is a responsible, dependable student who takes great pride in her work. She is kind and supportive toward her classmates, always willing to lend a helping hand or share a smile. Kenna strikes the perfect balance between having fun and staying focused, making her a joy to have in the classroom. I am so proud of Kenna’s effort, curiosity, and positive attitude—she is a true example of excellence!

2nd Grade- Alice Thomas

This student is truly a shining light in our classroom. Each day, this individual brings kindness, positivity, and a strong sense of responsibility that inspires everyone around. Always willing to lend a helping hand, this student goes above and beyond to make others feel valued and included. Academically, this student gives every task their very best effort. Even when faced with challenges, persistence and a genuine desire to learn always shine through. This student listens carefully, participates thoughtfully, and takes pride in doing quality work. This student leads quietly but powerfully, showing others what it means to be a good friend, a responsible learner, and a kind human being. It is with great pride, admiration, and appreciation that I nominate Alice Thomas for October's Student of the Month.

The third grade student of the month exemplifies the highest standards of character and integrity. Their consistent kindness and respect for others create a positive and inclusive environment wherever they go. Through unwavering honesty and a strong moral compass, this student has earned the trust and admiration of peers and staff alike. Their dedication to hard work and their steadfast perseverance in overcoming challenges reflect a deep commitment to excellence. Dependable, responsible, and consistently reliable, they approach every task with purpose and determination. Their friendly demeanor and willingness to support others make them a valued and respected member of the school community. This student stands as a model of kindness, honesty, hard work, dependability, friendliness, and perseverance—qualities that will undoubtedly continue to guide their future success. It is with great honor to nominate Annistyn Sutphin the third grade Student of the Month for October.

4th Grade- Kennedy Hardy

Fourth grade student of the month is a wonderful example of what it means to be a kind and caring member of our classroom community. With a bubbly personality and a bright smile, she brings positive energy to every activity and makes our classroom a happier place to learn. She is quick to lend a hand to classmates whether it be helping pick up dropped crayon boxes or letting classmates borrow her sharpener. This student is always friendly and welcoming to others, offering help when classmates need it and showing kindness in both words and actions. She approaches every challenge with a positive attitude and encourages others to do their best, too. This student truly shines as a role model for respect, teamwork, and enthusiasm for learning! She always starts her day in a positive way, I look forward to reading this student's morning check in each and every day! Please help me in congratulating Kennedy Hardy, as fourth grade October Student of the Month.

5th Grade- Jace Damiani

This month we are proud to recognize a student who is quiet by nature, but has really begun stepping into his own confidence as a learner. He has been advocating more for his needs, asking questions when he is unsure, and volunteering more often in class discussions. He is making responsible choices, staying focused on his goals, and not allowing himself to get pulled into negative behaviors. He is a friendly classmate, a helpful partner when working with others, and someone who can be counted on to treat people with kindness and respect. He has a wonderful sense of humor and is just truly an enjoyable kid to be around. His growth this year has been noticeable, and we are so proud of the young leader he is becoming. Congratulations to our 5th grade Student of the Month recipient, Jace Damiani!
