Happy Friday the 13th Slater Families!

Homecoming week ("SLATERBRATION") is not far away! During the whole week of September 23rd, we will be celebrating Slaterbration with daily dress-up themes, a week full of home athletics, and our annual Homecoming Dance of Saturday, the 28th, from 7 pm to 10 pm. Please encourage your child to participate in the fun!

Tuesday, September 17th, we will be hosting our annual "Club Fair" day during Advisory. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the different club opportunities we offer at FHUMHS. Clubs are a great chance for students to get involved and experience high school at it's fullest potential.

The 2024-2025 Sports Registration (on Formreleaf.com) is open for the Fall 2024, the Winter 2024-2025 and the Spring 2025 athletics for grades 7-12.

Please be aware that all athletes MUST have an UP TO DATE Physical form on file. Slate Valley School District recommends a yearly check up, but the VPA rules are every two years.

During Advisory, on September 17th, students will go to the high school gym to explore the different club offerings we have at FHU. Please encourage your child(ren) to get involved and explore areas of interest they may have.

Please refer to our school daily announcements (found on PowerSchool and our school website) for details on our club offerings. We are in the process of building club websites that give more information. These will be shared in the near future.

College Fair - Thurs 10/3 - 9-11am - FHU Gym

The Rutland Squadron of Civil Air Patrol will be having an Open House Meeting on Thursday, September 27th, from 6pm to 8:30pm. The cadet program is for young people ages 12-18.

The cadet program is a unique opportunity for young people in the area. Cadets explore their interests in aviation with stem activities, orientation flights in both powered and glider aircraft, and special activities. Cadets who want to earn their pilot's license also have some special opportunities in the program. They also train in emergency services and disaster relief as well as community service opportunities. Cadets learn military drill and ceremonies and participate in physical fitness training as well.

The squadron building is located at 1002 Airport Rd, Clarendon, VT.

The 4H has several open opportunities for teens, specifically the Teen Science Ambassadors and Health Heroes programs (see the posters below). Additionally, the monthly VTeen Science Café topics will be posted within a week or so, but café dates are available here: https://www.uvm.edu/extension/youth/announcements.

These opportunities are on the UVM campus, and other events outside Chittenden County will be posted soon (Teen Leadership Weekend in Fairlee is already posted to their website, though registration is not open yet).

Our Slaterbration homecoming week will be filled with themed dress-up days, home sporting events (culminating in a Friday night football game), and the Saturday night Homecoming Dance!

The high school open house will be help on September 26th, from 5:30 - 7:00 pm. Please CLICK HERE for a schedule of the evening. We hope to see you here!

The high school counseling department will be hosting a Senior college workshop from 6 pm to 8 pm. Come learn tips and tricks to navigating college applications, VSAC, FAFSA, and more.
