Fall is here! It is hard to believe that we have already completed our first quarter of the school year. We have so many things to be proud of here in Norton.
Our school year is off to a great start, and there is definitely something special about being in a school during the fall. The energy, excitement, and sense of community are everywhere you look.
Ciderfest was once again a great success. We are so fortunate to have such a supportive and engaged community that continues to show up for our students, staff, and schools. We truly appreciate everyone who helped make the event such a wonderful celebration of Norton.
And don't forget about the Norton High School Spooktacular on October 29! Sensory friendly trick-or-treating will begin at 5:45 p.m., followed by traditional trick-or-treating from 6:00–8:00 p.m. A special thank-you goes out to all of our Norton High School students and staff who work hard to make this event possible. Their time and effort help create a fun and memorable evening for our younger students and families.
There will also be food trucks available for all of our trick-or-treaters, so be sure to grab something to eat before everyone heads home to enter a well-deserved sugar coma from all of that candy! We hope to see you there!

Norton Levy and Performance Audit Information
The Norton City Schools Board of Education invites members of the community to join us for an opportunity to learn more about the state of Norton City Schools and the challenges facing our district.
Superintendent, Bryan Farson, will provide a presentation outlining the district’s current financial situation, the steps being taken to address our challenges, and the potential impact on the future of Norton City Schools.
Following the presentation, community members will have an opportunity to ask questions of Board of Education members, including questions regarding the upcoming school levy.
We encourage residents to attend our final community information sessions. The meeting will be held at the Norton Community Center:
- October 25 at 11:00 a.m.
We want to hear from you, answer your questions, and provide the information you need to better understand the choices facing Norton City Schools.
For those who are unable to attend our community forums, we wanted to make the information available to you in another way. We have provided an audio version of both our levy presentation and our performance audit presentation, along with the official Performance Audit report from the Ohio Auditor of State.
We hope these resources will help provide you with the information and background needed to better understand where Norton City Schools is today and the decisions we are facing moving forward. As always, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
Norton Students of the Month
The following students have been selected as Students of the Month. They represent “The Panther Way” through their efforts in the classroom and positive impact in the community.
We are proud to recognize their commitment, character, and hard work. Congratulations to each of our Students of the Month. Go Panthers!

Technology
Student Chromebook Care: Say No to "Frankie"!
This fall, Mrs. Wagler, our District Technology Coordinator, visited 4th and 5th graders to review proper Chromebook care. She introduced 4th graders to "Frankie"—a Frankenstein-style Chromebook pieced together with tape and missing keys—and reviewed the concept with 5th graders to remind everyone that their devices shouldn't look like a monster project. Taking care of school property shows responsibility and respect for their learning tools. Here are the key takeaways shared with students:
• Focus on Learning: Devices are for educational use. They are not intended for entertainment such as video watching and games. Games requiring fast, heavy keyboard hammering damage the hardware and are not permitted.
• Keep Liquids Away: Keep all liquids, paints, glitter glue, and gel-like items (including Squishies) far from Chromebooks.
• Use the Protective Sleeve: Chromebooks must stay in their sleeve when not in use. Office replacements are available for $10 if lost or no longer intact.
• Keep It Yours & Keep It Labeled : Your Chromebook is assigned strictly to you—do not let friends or siblings use it. If you're in 4th–7th grade, make sure your personalized "Frankie" sticker stays on the outer case so you can always identify your device. Grades 8-12 can add a quarter-sized, school-appropriate sticker to identify their device.
• Care for Loaners & Insurance Limits: Insurance never covers intentional damage, lost items, or stolen devices. Additionally, please handle loaner devices with extra care, as they carry no coverage at all.
• Charge Daily: Use only official NCS chargers and ensure you bring a fully charged device to school every day with the charger in the sleeve.
6th and 7th graders are up next! Mrs. Wagler will be visiting their classrooms soon to review device care and answer any questions.
High School
On October 7, the high school hosted our twice annual blood drive run by our athletic health sciences classes in conjunction with the American Red Cross. Junior and senior students in Athletic Health Sciences help students and staff sign up, monitor the proceedings, and check on the care of donors both before and after giving blood.
Through the years, the blood drives at Norton High School have been a huge success! Through all the blood drives we've hosted, we've collected almost 1600 units from over 1700 total donors. We appreciate all the coordination Mrs. Sue Ward and the students of Athletic Health Sciences put into the blood drive every year!

More Than Wins and Losses
At Norton High School, athletics are about much more than the final score. Our programs help students develop leadership, responsibility, teamwork, resilience, and school pride. These experiences help prepare our young people for success long after their playing days are over.
We are especially grateful to the parents, volunteers, coaches, athletic trainers, school staff, and community members who make these opportunities possible. Your time, encouragement, and support make a meaningful difference in the lives of our student-athletes.
Panther Nation: Come Out and Support Our Teams!
