A Note From the Counselor

April Newsletter 2026

April is Child Abuse Awareness Month, a time to come together as a community to support and protect the well-being of all children. Throughout the month, we are committed to raising awareness about the importance of safe, supportive environments where every child can thrive. To support this effort, the ROAR program will be visiting our school to present to students in grades K–2, helping them learn important safety skills in an age-appropriate way. In addition, we invite students and staff to wear blue every Friday in April. Wearing blue is a simple but powerful way to stand up for children and remind one another that we all play a role in keeping kids safe, valued, and heard. Thank you for helping us make a difference!

The NSCAS will be taken after Easter.

As students in grades 3–5 prepare for the Nebraska Student-Centered Assessment System (NSCAS), we want to encourage healthy test-taking habits and a positive mindset. Getting a good night’s sleep, eating a healthy breakfast, and arriving at school on time can make a big difference in helping students do their best. We also remind students to take their time, read directions carefully, and use strategies they’ve practiced throughout the year. Most importantly, we encourage them to try their best and remember that one test does not define who they are—we are proud of their hard work every day!
