Chalmers student earns high school credit!
We have BIG news! Emma Franco, 4th grader here at Chalmers has earned HIGH SCHOOL Spanish I credit! This is a huge accomplishment! Since Emma has been in the Dual Language Program for 5 consecutive years, received Masters on both the Math and Reading STAAR tests, and she scored both English Proficient and Spanish Proficient on the Las Links language assessments, she has earned her High School Spanish I credit. She will not have to take this course and can begin with Spanish II in junior high to fulfill her foreign language requirement for high school graduation. Congratulations Emma!

October is recognized as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Mr. Hill's Law Enforcement II class engaged in an in-depth study on how to effectively conduct first on-scene investigations and prepare detailed reports. Meanwhile, his Criminal Investigations students explored the nuances of follow-up investigations for reported domestic violence incidents. Understanding that domestic violence manifests in various forms, the students were tasked with creating posters that combined artistic expression with meaningful messages and resources for those seeking help.

Art Students Receive Grant from GEF!
Mrs. Stogner's students were so excited to get their art supplies from the Gainesville ISD Education Foundation Innovative Teaching Grants! They dove right in with their first watercolor painting project! Students used color resistance with crayon and masking tape and painted directly over the top of the artwork with watercolor. Using the easels made it easy for the kids to paint! The students enjoyed this project! Thank you again to our wonderful donors & sponsors who help make this possible!

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, our 2nd, grade Dual Language students decorated kites to represent different Hispanic countries. Each student chose a country to highlight and decorated their kite with its colors and symbols. At the end of the project, students went outside to fly their kites together. Flying kites is a tradition in many Hispanic countries, especially in the fall, and this activity gave students the chance to celebrate the richness of Hispanic cultures and the joy of being proud of their roots.
